If Fedor looks good vs Hendo, what are the chances of a Fedor vs Bones fight soon?

Bones Jones is absolutely enormous for a lightheavyweight, and has already stated he wants to move up to heavyweight at some stage.

I think a Fedor fight makes sense, if indeed he gets by Hendo in impressive fashion, for the following reasons:

    - When Jones does move up, I'm sure Greg Jackson will be telling him to have a fight or two to get accustomed to fighting the heavier guys, it would be a massive risk for him to try and face a naturally bigger powerhouse like a Velasquez or a JDS straight away, and Fedor is about as small as modern heavyweights come.

    - Fedor is out of the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament, and there's really nothing else for him to do in Strikeforce. A rematch with Werdum might be on the immediate horizon, but what else? Arlovski and Rogers are both pretty much finished with SF I expect. There's no-one.

    - Dana will want Fedor in the UFC finally, but no way will he allow Fedor to stroll in and get an immediate title shot.

    - I believe Dana will think of Bones vs Fedor as feeding Fedor to the beast, to finally prove his petty point to himself and casual fans that Fedor was never really the best anyway, etc.

    - Fedor and his management won't want him to come in to the UFC, and fight some B-class guy on the undercard, they will want him to be headlining, centre stage in a big show. This fight at a 220lbs catchweight would provide that, whereas a non-title fight at heavyweight would not, not to the same degree.

What do you think, am I dreaming here or could this fight happen?

And how would it go, if it did materialize this/next year? :bbb

Because Fedor got caught in a triangle/armbar by a 245lbs jiu-jitsu champion and black belt, then was beaten up by a guy who probably outweighed him by 50lbs on fightnight, he is "shot"?

Shot = Chuck Liddell by the time he fought Rich Franklin. We do not have any real evidence that Fedor is shot as of now.

Maybe 'shot' is a bit too strong. But you can add going life and death with an amature like Rogers and being soundly on the backfoot against Arlovski as signs he is declining

Ive seen enough of your posts to know that you know Fedor is well past his glory days. Thats why im kinda suprised to see you clamouring for this fight - you really want to see the GOAT clearly past his best in there with a guy who routinely breaks bones?

    Cmon life and death ???

He didn't look that bad against Roger, he only took is time.

IMO Fedor is more cautious against someone with a huge KO power then against someone with huge subsmission skills !

Hate to **** on your parade mate but Fedor and the UFC aint never happening ................

The UFC will not allow a co promotion with M1 Global , M1 Global will not allow Fedor to fight under the UFC's name solely , end of discussion

Yes, there were a few moments, however fleeting, when watching it live I personally thought Fedor could lose this fight. And you cant really play the cautious card when he was tagged quite often. Rogers significantly slowed down and Fedor unleashed the right hand from hell, but up untill then it was clear this wasnt the same guy from the Cro Cop fight. I dont see how anyone can see it any different even if life and death is a bit harsh

I've said this many many time on this board and I really don't understand why most of you guys think it was a bad performance against Roger. With the exception of several knee to the leg(while clinching) and the 1 jab that reopened an already existing cut on Fedor nose, Roger barely touched him( and this is including the G'n'P when Roger got on top after Fedor tryed to commit to a kimura). For a first fight in a cage it really wasn't that bad.

On there feet like I said, with the exception of the jab, roger never touched Fedor, not even once, so I don't really understand what your are talking about ?

Well if memory serves Fedor had about 3 sub attempts which failed against a guy with ZERO ground game, and he took 3 0r 4 clean shots whilst on his back. And in the 2nd he had Brett back up against the cage and was wildly swinging at Bretts forearms and didnt make an adjustment and go to the body or use an uppercut, just kept swinging until Brett managed to clinch. And the ko was good, but Brett was going backwards, in a straight line, with his hands down. Until then Fedor landed nothing significant either, except for when he punched then shot for the take down in the 1st

Now if I described that fight and left out the word Fedor, would you think I was talking about the worlds best heavyweight in his prime?

When Anderson Silva got mounted in round 1, ground-and-pounded with clean shots to the face and head, and then beat Travis Lutter in the 2nd round, did you take that as evidence of Silva being close to shot? For me, that fight was very, very similar in terms of momentum to Fedor vs Rogers.

NO-ONE is saying Fedor's prime, nor even close to his prime, but shot? I'm holding off making that judgement until we have some concrete evidence of it. He's declined of course, but a crushing loss to a 280lbs Bigfoot Silva is not conclusive proof of a 230lbs man being shot IMO.
