Which of Wlad's opponents fought closest to Haye's style?

Please no "pizza face" type posts here. Plenty of threads for that already.

Of course Wlad is 95% sure to destroy Haye, with Haye having a tiny puncher's chance in the first few rounds. We been there, done that.

    - But I'm curious to imagine how Wlad will approach Haye, from an empirical viewpoint, so I'm watching some of Wlad's past fight on YouTube. ( I never watched most of them due to the boredom factor.) Looking to see how Wlad fought against smaller, fast punchers with good head movement & knockout power in both hands. (and big mouths & lousy defense, but I digress ....)

    - So for I haven't found any, though I haven't look at all of them. So, disregarding (as much as possible) the fact that Wlad is a much better fighter today, which past Wlad fight do you think is most representative of things to come?

Honestly no one, which is why I like the looks of this fight.

David Haye is to Wladimir what Herbie Hide was to Vitali

Calvin Brock and Eddie Chambers seems closest to me, but they failed to get anything done. I can't see much changing here, if Haye wins it will be a huge upset, but I can't see anything in Haye that would allow me to believe he can do it. Wlad should easily win this fight no matter what. I actually hope though that the two really make a fight out of it, but I don't expect to see anything more than what we already know. Wlad is a boring fighter and has been for quite some time. He wins convincingly in boring style with controlling every aspect of the fight. Haye in my opinion doesn't have the mettle to overcome that. I hope we are all surprised and see a terrific battle, but honestly I don't think either guy can compete very long in a ferocious slugfest, so I'm looking for a boring fight that was overhyped with Wlad either winning by decision or late round KO or stoppage. At least none of us have to wait much longer to find out.

I agree mate. This is uncharted territory for Wlad and it's why this could be the first interesting fight involving one of the brothers in memory.

    Shimmy,

I see what you mean about Brock. At least he moved a little, though not so much side to side like Haye does. Chambers was just a stationary target. For that style, I think Peter & Botha are better choices simply because of their power, but again they don't really fit the bill at all.

Interesting, though: I'm watching Sam Peter vs both Vitali & Wlad, and what I see from this is that Wlad is by far the better man to destroy Haye, despite popular opinion. Vitali might have a better chin, but against Peter (a very dangerous puncher, we can all agree) Vitali was happy to stay close, keep his right hand low, and use his head movement to duck punches. Do that against Haye and I think it might be good night, Vitali.

Wlad vs Peter, on the other hand: Wlad stayed far outside, and kept his guard up. Peter couldn't really land much, and eventually gassed out. Then in the 10th Wlad unleashed with a flury of combinations that I didn't know he was even capable of. (The speed and intensity, I mean.)

I think Haye's in even bigger trouble than I thought just yesterday.

Speed + power...he hasn't. maybe Sanders, he has quick hands but static feet. He was about the same size as Wlad and could bully him a bit...Haye cant do that, just a different type of fighter

One thing the Brock fight shows me, though, is that (the normally reserved) Wlad was forced to be VERY active, for seven rounds, and didn't looked the least bit tired in that last round. He was still dancing and throwing an insane number of vicious jabs.

Chambers has the same kind of speed and actually might be a better technical fighter. Chambers does not have the same power though.

Neither Brock nor Chambers have any resemblance of Haye's style. Brock's was very awkward, Wlad din't know what to do with him for a first few rounds. I even thought at the time that Wlad is about to collapse.

Chamber's style was so straight forward that Wlad had zero trouble with it.

Haye's is somewhere in the middle. I don't think Wlad will have much trouble figuring it out.

Whether your a Klitschko fan or a Haye fan, the fact is this is Wlads toughest title defense to date. No one really compares to what Haye brings to the table physicaly, and on July 2nd were gonna find out if he has it mentally as well.

Chambers is closest to Haye, except Chambers throws many more punches, had better defense, stamina, technique, chin, etc...........
