Its very relevant when you are assesing whether a man can take a shot or not......have you read the thread or just jumped in?
If Haye was that weight drained against Mormeck, how come he was able to come on stronger later in the fight?
Laz only made around 300 posts out of over 2000. EDIT: ...and yes I did spend nearly 10 minutes searching for that. atsch
Yes. He made the weight but it was very hard, he came back down from his HW holiday and Booth was counting his punch output in France, in between rounds telling him how many he'd thrown. IIRC they had set a limit on the number of shots he should throw as Booth knew he couldn't go all out.
Because Mormeck slows over courses of his CW fights, Haye took time after knockdown to get back into fight and once he felt Mormeck tiring he felt stronger. Remember the punch wobbled him and sent him down but like Cotto did he found a way to win. People said Cotto was weight drained and his resistance was poor cos of weight yet he still won his fights at 140lbs even against like's of Torres.
Thank you and your spot on about punch output remember it myself. Booth saying ''you threw 30 punches that round'' etc etc. :good Off to work now lads. Be back this evening.
Actually you're right, I seem to remember the same against Valuev. Course it was easier and only one hand was needed for the counting.
So please tell me when him being 'weight drained' started? You can dig up as many posts from people saying he was weight drained all you want but the fact is its just an excuse. If Haye had blown out Mormeck in 3 rds he wouldnt have mentioned being weight drained but because he was dropped he had to have some kinda excuse. He looked in great condition for Mormeck and Enzo, not drained at all. He moved to up HW because the CW division is crap not because he couldnt make weight anymore. Maybe Mormeck was drained aswell
