*Wladimir Klitschko-David Haye Build-up Thread*

Chagaev was about 4 years before the Haye fight and he was somewhat competitive in a fight but lost to a rubbish title holder who went on to lose to Holyfield. Tyson Fury and Del Boy would have been better opponents than the Ruiz Haye fought. There must have been about 30 (maybe more) guys who would have beaten Ruiz in the division at the time.

If you think that was a legitimate opponent, that's your opinion. But he certainly wasn't one in my book.

I'd love to know how Haye's sparring with Price went. As sparring partners go, Price would somewhat fit the bill for a boxer similar to Wlad.

 

Yeah i agree, Price is a slightly novice version of Klit. Bit taller but both have suspect chins. Apparently they have sparred together in numerous training camps.

I'm starting to come round to the idea of Haye being able to walk Wlad into something big. The only problem is Haye likes you to fight balls to the wall in order for him to draw your lead and then counter over the top. Wlad will certainly not be fighting balls to the wall and the problem for Haye is with his advantages Wlad can control the fight without doing much from distance and look like he's winning. He doesn't have to walk through helicopter blades to get his game started like Ruiz had to. Haye has to get Wlad leaning back and leaving the jab out there without snapping it. His circling and footwork has to be spot on.

 

When Haye unloads he needs to do so in quick bursts of 4 5 or 6 punch combinations, because lets be fair Wlad won't be lucking to counter punch. There's two things you need to beat Wlad a bit of pop, to be able to negate the jab and his clinch then it's game set and match.

 

That transported me into daydream visualising the fight I actually got butterflies imagining Haye trying to avoid Wlad and land the counter.

Ruiz didn't fight like Ruiz when he fought Haye. If he had he might have been a legit opponent but John Ruiz trying to box...nah.

 

It's gonna be fascinating.

Haye has to neutralise that jab of Wlads. It's such a dangerous weapon and how effective it is will determine the outcome of the fight imo. That jab is just ridiculously good. Wlad has good variety with it too. He throws a regular jab, a power jab and a range finding one. Sometimes people don't notice the subtle differences in them.

Having said that it's not impossible to counter that jab, especially for someone with Haye's tools.

Haye needs to have his feet in the right place constantly and not fight off the wrong foot as he's done in the past. He can actually parry all of Wlads jabs exept the power or double jabs, which are gonna be very difficult to counter so Haye also needs to be efficient and choose his moments carefully. It could come down to what type of jab Haye decides to counter.

Relying on his athleticism/reflexes and staying on his toes, Haye can touch Wlads hand almost like he's trying to jab with him. At the point of contact he can parry Wlads hand in a downward motion and then throw the right hand or right cross.

Watching footage of Wlad this can definitely be done because he doesn't stay calm under the gun and leans his head straight back. This would be a perfect move for Haye to try, but his feet and positioning of his head need to be spot on.

The most obvious punch for Haye to throw is the right hand over the top as a hook. As Wlad throws, Haye needs to quickly slip it, get inside and then throw the right hand over the jab. I think if Haye's gonna tag the robot this will be the punch that will do it. Haye throws it really well and it will also come from Wlads blind side.

Haye has to constantly change the angle and distance in this fight. He needs a lot of fients and change ups. He has to give Wlad as little center line as possible and establish a solid defensive base before every attack.

He also can't forget his own jab. He needs to use it a lot more then usual. I'd like to see him throwing an up jab or one to Wlads body that will set up the hayemakers.

The jab is so vital in this fight because Wlad relies on it to stabilise and neutralise his opponent and be comfortable throwing that back hand.

 

Mormeck was struggling at CW....and i knew Haye was weight drained before the fight as did the Don King Commentary team and Steve Bunce and co. Just cos some ''looks good'' ie ripped don't mean there strong and healthy at weight plus his skin tone is exactly like a Cotto who when weight drained looks like he has aids.

Didn't Haye have to train something like 9 months straight (including the Mormeck prep) for the Enzo fight? Not the actions of a man who could comfortably continue at the weight...

 

Sounds crazy I know, but I really wish I'd voted for a David Haye win by UD instead of KO. I honestly think Haye is going to outbox Wlad or maybe get a late stoppage. I don't believe he will try to blow Wlad away early because that is what everyone expects him to try and do.
