Is Mills Lane the best referee ever in boxing history?

Mills and Smoger are my personal favorites. Mercante was awesome too.

To me those three are in a class by their own.

 

he was ok. He lost control in the 4th round during Hearns vs. Kinchen.

 

It was probably too much for candy ass boxing fans like you but it would have been more disappointing if he stopped it after the first bite. He took 2 points away from Tyson and he warned him that the next one will result to a DQ.

 

Yep those are good ones.

Mills Lane and Arthur Mercante Jr are ok too.

 

anybody remember lewis vs briggs. cappucino was classic that night. he would admonish them in that hilarious voice like he was addressing one of his kids.

can't stand mercante jr.... judah vs baldomir: "calm down zab. we'll take care of you. we're family here." admittedly, this isn't verbatim but very similar. for me, mercante is right there with lawrence "you're ahead on points if the fight ends now, what do you want to do?" cole

 

I don't like either Mercante, Snr or Junior, though senior is not a criminally negligent referee as his son who has NO place in boxing in mypoinion.

Watch the end of the Whitaker Hurtado fight and consider that was a full couple of years before the death of Batehaven Scotland that he HAS to take responsibility for.

Then the bull**** on the Cotto fight? He is terrible.

I like Mills Lane, good referee.

Ron Lipton is a good referee. He should have gotten more fights but he didn't have the political connections of the Mercante's.
