Toney getting nailed by Sam Peter proves to me Toney can take a shot from hell... Toney and Peter gave and took good **** from each other, but Peter really nailed Toney baby several times in the '07 rematch and Toney took it well...... 'Nuff said....

Toney possibly could have the best chin of all time, but we probably wont ever find out for sure

Not 'nuff said because Marciano will be hitting just as hard but throwing 5 times the punches. Marciano will not be getting gassed and making a single offensive charge a round. The accumulative punishment Marciano will dish out versus Peter over 12 or 15 rounds will be exponential.

Look, I'm no fan of Sammy Peter, but when in-shape the dude can whack like a Hall of Fame puncher.... Peter's skills are basic, but his strength and power is legit.... The Sammy Peter who was 249 for Toney in 2007 was motivated, serious and boxed the fight of his career... Too bad he lapsed with focus afterward....

James Toney was not his best at 234 slobbish pounds, but he was so slick and savvy that it enabled him to survive the 12 rds.... Yes, Toney lost that fight, but he proved his metal and toughness to the max....

I say a better prepared (217 pounds) James Toney could handle Rocky Marciano (187 pounds) in a time machine and even do rather well....

He has/had a great chin but , He also takes more of those shots than you think.,..He rarely gets hit flush... Which reminds me that the only time i ever seen TOney hurt was at Mw against Reggie Johsnon.. He got hit on the button and went down fast... Not in danger of being kod but he was hurt.

I just recalled that Toney was hurt by Oquendo a few years back, late in the fight.. I also saw a clip of him here on Esb , gettin nailied by some outof shape clubfighter, he was deinitely stunned and even stumbled for a brief second.... It was a big suprise as this guy,, Looked lmore like the midwestern clubfighters that Butterbean use to feast on

Looks like his chin might not be so great no more... All the years of blowin and not taking care of himself has caught up with him.... But i thinmk its more becaise hes not as Slick , qnd is getting hit more clean..

Toney's chin is Hall of Fame......... I also think he became more durable as he added some weight..... Toney was limp at 160 when Reg Johnson decked him.... Toney takes punches very well when hit, however, he is so slippery he rarely gets tagged hardcore or more than one shot at a time... I've never seen Toney eat a 4 or 5 punch combo....

Me thinks many of the wide and winging shots that Marciano threw would be seen coming by a slick master like Toney.... Toney could and would make Marciano look amateurish and sloppy and he'd nail "The Rock" with swift counters that may not kill, but they sting and rack up points....

Marciano of '53 would be in a bruiser with Toney of '03..... No doubt, Jack.......

Also, I am not happy with Toney at 230+ pounds on fight night... Although he can still fight up that high, he looks tubby and sometimes his balance is off.... Toney looked much better at 226 in his no-contest fight / rematch with Hasbeen Rahman in 2008...

    MR.BILL

    NOTE:

Toney was sharp like a blade at 217 for Holy in '03...
