At 160. How do you think this fight would go?

Bloody nightmare fight this one. It would be amazing as well...i'll go with Hagler by KO I guess, but the Jones on points is no less reasonable.

I would go with Jones on points. Not that tight actually. Although Hagler does hit pretty hard he is not a one punch KO artist. At 160 Roy's hand speed and ability to avoid punches was unreal.

So basically if the fight ended in a KO. I would go with Hagler obviously :D. If it ended on points I can't see anything else other than a Jones UD.

Would have been a great fight.

Its tempting to go wih Hagler right off the bat with this one, but some further analysis is nessecary. Hagler is the guy who had to fight all the other guys no one else wanted to fight, who got the short money and the short end of a few bad decisions. He had to fight many more fights than Jones did to get to the top, making him more like an old timer , making it more tempting to give Hagler the win over Jones.
But when you pit Hagler and Jones against their experiences with the elite , Jones starts to look a lot better. His career defining kayo of Tommy Hearns aside, Hagler struggled with a past his best Roberto Duran, allowed a five year inactive Ray Leonard to steal a decision, and went life and death against John Mugabi, who turned out to be nothing memorible .Yeah, Hagler dominated Vito Antuofermo, and Mustapha Hamsho , but Jones dominated James Toney and Benard Hopkins. After that , Jones started being too careful about who he fought, so we only have an idea of what he may have been capeable of. But I would have to say, knowing what I do, Jones probably would have decisioned Hagler , not easily, but clearly.

Hagler late TKO. Nobody really pressured Jones until Glen Johnson and Hagler could apply 100X the pressure that Glen Johnson did.

Some may point out what SRL did to Hagler but SRL absorbed a heck of punishment doing so. Jones' chin is nowhere near SRL's level.

What you are overlooking here is the fact that Roy in his prime avoided pressure with his unreal reflexes and blind punches. Do you really think nobody tried to pressure Roy before Glen Johnsons? If Sugar Ray could use speed and evasive skills to frustrate Hagler, what coul RJJ have done?

Nice Avatar, Lloyd Bank$. I forgot what this thread was about.

Oh... right. Jones by decision. Jones has always had a tendency to go to the ropes, even when he had legs. Hagler would win rounds in which Jones did so, and may even be capable of stopping him. Hagler by decison is not a crazy thought. I just don't think Hagler would catch Jones often enough.
