Just round 4 for Munroe from me.

Fight was a lot closer than the scorecards suggested obviously, Nishioka made his experience pay and without fail always came back when he needed to to get the round in the bag.

I had it 118-110. I thought Rendall had two clear rounds (the 2nd and 4th - and was a little surprised that all three judges didn't at least give him those two) but no more after that. The 6th was flexible, but went to Toshiaki on my card.

That leaves nine rounds where Munroe was outmaneuvered, outworked and outlanded - cut-and-dry.

So 116-112 is a bit too narrow, honestly.

I gave him two and four as well. It was one of those fights where if you made an impression of what kind of fight it was by the scorecards you would think it was one sided from start to finish. But in reality in at least 6 of the rounds there was not much in it at all probably nothing more then one eye catching combination.

A little harsh but not much. The fact all three scored it that way sort of gives an indication of what took place, Munroe was competitive in quite a few rounds which makes it seem incredibly harsh but it was also the case Nishioka had a noticeable edge in nearly every single one of them too unfortunately. Munroe would put some pressure on but Nishi would respond with better quality punching.

They probably should have given him 2 though at least, maybe 3 at a push.

Same thing for me. 119-109 looks like a harsh score when you look at the fight overall, but scoring it round by round I could only give one round to Munroe. There were maybe 2 other rounds that could have gone his way at a push, but that's it really.

Round 6 is the perfect example. Take away just a few spells of Nishioka's woodpecker mimicry, and you could well argue that Munroe's pressure, infighting (especially with the right hook) and body punching carried him through. The fact is, in the 6th round there were several of those instances where Rendall was forced to cover up and completely unplug himself offensively as the Speed King did his speed thing - and in the rest of 5-12 there were even more of them and they were longer. Nishioka was also wise to mix in body punches whenever Rendall's hands went up to make sure he was landing enough to score at all times (the body punches are also what had Rendall the most hurt at a couple of points).

i thought the scorecards where fine allthough when you think about the fight as whole is seems as though it was closer and munroe deserved a little bit more than what looks like a total beating in the scorecards

It certainly wasn't your typical point-shy-of-a-shutout domination (in other words, it wasn't in the vein of Calzaghe-Lacy), but on the ten-point-must system the scoring was definitely in the right neighborhood and anything closer than 118-110 or 117-111 would do a disservice to the quality work of Nishioka.

It was spot on, Munroe won the 4th only, wanting Munroe to get any more to save face is sympathetic, Pro-Brit bollocks.

He won one round. Nishioka clearly outclassed him and was a cut above. Munroe showed his chin and heart though, and at least kept trying, but with Nishioka moving he couldn't plant his feet to get the body shtos going, which we know work for him.

I'd be intrigued to see which rounds anyone thought Munroe won? I gave him the 4th only, although there were one or two close rounds you could've given 10-10 if you were trying to make the points less wide.

But fairly, objectively....one round was all I could give him.

No he didn't. Because he only won one round. This is the kinda' thinking that is ruining boxing, it's one step down from 'let's give him easy fights so he keeps winning'.

No, if you can't cut it, you can't cut it, and as fans we should stop being such sentimental pussies.

Munroe lost, so what? He lost wide, so what? He's a hard-working fighter and a top fella, doesn't mean he 'deserves' to appear better than he actually is. He got dominated, and had no answer to Nishioka.

I had it 118-110, Munroe winning the second and fourth, ultimately being let down by his lack of work. He just didn't do enough to win any of the close rounds.

I gave Munroe 2 rounds, 3 at a push and that is being kind.
