:rofl:rofl Maybe GSP VS Shield....forget about Silva dude....it will take min 1 year before we see that fight, if we ever see it one day ! IMO I say at least 3 other title defense for GSP, then go up in weight since he won't have anybody left to fight at 170.... And Couture is a 205 now, I don't think he will fight HW any time soon....but for this one I could be wrong...we never know !
I thought couture was smaller than hvy, but wasnt sure. Could this shields give gsp a challenge you think? I dont think ive ever seen someone so dominant in his sport as gsp is. I started watching ufc again after he beat hughes in the second fight. I wasnt even sure why he had to fight koscheck again after he already beat him once, unless theres just simply no one left. Kinda like the klitschkos
Couture is almost 48 he is only going to take up interesting fights I doubt he will wanna leave any potential movie roles to fight Stefan Struve.
Was just thinking maybe as a passing of the torch such fight. I found it obvious that the struve kid is being groomed as the future of the ufc.. couture would be a no risk fight with adding a good name to his resume. Or dya think struve might not be ready still?
Just watch the post fight press conference, it'll just confirm your thoughts. When asked about a potential fight vs Silva, GSP says it will most likely happen but indirectly says it won't happen soon, the way he talked i can imagine 2-3 title defence (as you said) before he even considers it. He said his weight right now at WW is around 190 while he used to be around 180-185, and to go up at MW he wouldn't want to be under 200-205, so he's still got some bulking up to do and my guess is it's gonna take 1 year and a half or so.
He's been saying that for the past few years, it doesn't look like he has any interest in challenging Silva. Maybe if ZUFFA offered up proper compensation for the mega PPV that it would be...but I can't speak for GSP and I don't think he wants the fight, which is very winnable at this point. Oh well.
I think he can do it, definitely. Manny is as good of a boxer as GSP is a mixed martial artist, and he moved up a billion weight classes. In fact, I think GSP is quantifiably (if that is indeed a word) better at his craft than ANYONE in any sport today. He is just that dominant! The only reason his last 4 fights have gone the distance was because he didnt want to hurt his opponents too much. If he felt threatened after the first round, and felt that he might be beaten, he would have knocked all 4 out. But he knew they simply couldnt beat him, at least not without an outside influence (cue Mr Fuji and his salt), so he just takes it easy (easy for him), and plays with them. He could have maimed Kos on saturday, ensuring Kos would never fight again, but GSP isnt an *******, and he knows his opponents still have families to feed.
