So I finish work and see M.Hatton won his fight. Dodgy judges maybe I think? So I check out the Brit forum to see how accurate the scorecards were and see mostly guys glad he is almost taken out in the 1st. Now I don't expect you to be like the Pacquiaos fans in Phillipines (Froch for PM?), but is there any UK fighters on the world stage that is liked in the UK? All I see is mostly abuse hurled towards your own guys.
Everyone seems to be united in disliking Matt Hatton. There are enough people who dislike every other fighter to make a big noise about it, but generally they get support on here. The hate just drowns out the love. It's like two people shouting being louder than a room full of people having normal conversations.
Matt Hatton is a bad example because of his personality and the fact that he had is usually boring to watch and has got where he has because of his brother. Matt Hatton has improved and it was a good performance last night.We give some of our fighters a hard time of it, but for the most part we get behind and give good support to our fighters
Hatton is a bad example. It's pretty obvious (despite his good showing last night) that he is only where he is because of his brother..... British people tend to love the underdog or those that have had to work hard to get what they have.... it's why you'll rarely see people wanting to see Rendall Munroe or Ryan Rhodes get beat.
a couple of years ago, haye would have been the most popular world level fighter. now, i think froch gets more respect even though a lot of people still think he's a twat. as mentioned before, munroe and rhodes are a couple of fringe world level fighters who don't really have haters. booth is another.
I'll keep am eye on them and hope they get recognition. When I why stayed in the UK, we would goto the pub to watch Benn, Eubank, Lewis, Bruno, Naz, and Calzaghe. Eubank was a twat but we still cheered him on and they certainly all had their share of soft opponents.We didn't care. At one time, I think the only requirement for Hamed was the guy had to come from South or Central America!
I don't see how anyone can dislike Froch at all. He speaks the truth, and is always in good fights.... even though his style is awkward. Haye on the other hand has really shown his true colours in the past year or so.... I wouldn't mind at all if he was knocked off his perch in his next fight.
Brits hate winners like Eubank and Lewis. We prefer the loser like Benn and Bruno I'm not a Matthew Hatton fan but I will support him against every foreigner.
I like Froch, but I can see why others don't and I think it has a lot to do with Hennessy. As for Matthew Hatton, I cannot stand the guy. Craig Watson handily beat him, but because Hatton is the brother of their promoter he gets all the opportunities and Craig has to quietly work away almost unnoticed on the undercards. I actually scored last nights fight 114-113 for the chellenger, but could understand Hatton getting the nod, however the 117-110 card was a disgrace.
They are all generally popular on here and all tend to be supported by the regulars in their fights with a few exceptions. Matt Hatton is a different story, he's not well liked because he doesn't particularly come across well and has been seen as piggybacking on his brothers success and taking up undercard slots in boring fights that could have been used for younger more exciting fighters. You are just paying far too much credence to the opinion of a few idiots that shout loudest.
Theres a vocal minority who like to have a go at the more popular British boxers. I think its part trolling, part attention seeking and in Khans case, I'm sorry to say, maybe part racism.
Theres also a thing where big name fighters get their critics regardless of anything they've said or done. That is not a British phenomenon. Check the general, try and find a big name fighter that doesn't come in for his share of criticism.
