I'm not that familiar with how the whole weight thing works so my question is this, is it acceptable or even usual for a super bantamweight title contest to go ahead if both fighters weigh in on the 122 lbs limit but come fight night one boxer comes to the ring at 130 Ibs which is super featherweight. If this is acceptable what is the point of making weight in the first place? If this consistently happens with a fighter coming into a fight with a notably size advantage, should he be made to move up a weight?
Fighters like that don't have successful careers. Its false economy. You fight at the weight that is optimal for your performance. Gambling on a size differential is simply stupid and very dangerous to your long term health.
All the GREAT fighters stay within lbs of there fighting weight. Shane Hop PBF to name a few. They NEVER blow up. Thats simply unprofessional. If you want to be a great fighter live the lifestyle of one.
