Show me the greatest signs of adversity you seen in a boxing ring. I'm not talking about a guy taking a beating. I'm talking about guys with injuries and fighting way to a win or a draw or even a loss. Bad cuts, injured hands, ankles, eyes, ribs, so on so forth. Lets see why this sport is the greatest in world!!!! Even add a story of a guy overcoming adversity. I'm sick of those ''He could of been in prison or dead.'' stories. Maybe you read or know of someone overcoming mental adversity as well as physical. ''Any man can win when things go his way, it's the man who overcomes adversity that is the true champion.'' Alfredo Angulo's mental adversity of having the Ring IQ of Julian Clary. Seriously though, every time Walter McGowan fought he was cut to ribbons. Watch his rematch with Rudkin he takes a hiding early and is beat up and cut but mounts an amazing comeback.
I think Froch Taylor is a good shout defending his title away against the favourite getting dropped for the 1st time in your career then coming back and knocking the guy out with 12 secs to go
I guess you could say Julian Jackson's KO of Herol Graham is a good example of this, considering that he was only a few seconds away from being stopped himself after taking a whipping for the 4 rounds the fight lasted, with his eyes battered and almost shut. On a more adversity-out-of-the-ring angle, I think Jason Booth has done extraordinarily well to turn things around considering his problems in recent years.
Not by a fighter but I thought Robert Mcracken going from losing his mother in the early hours of the morning to steer his man Carl Froch to his 1st world title was inspiring and defines brave. Greatest comeback win was of course Corrales over Castillo in that classic but that doesnt really qualify here?
Arthur Abraham vs Edison Miranda 1. Arthur's broken jaw was hanging grotesquely low for a good few rounds. Pantera was unbeaten and had been knocking out people handily before that first fight and I worried that one hard blow one knock Arthur's loose jaw clean out of his chops onto the judges laps below. (I know a tad unrealistic but..)
