Yes I'd go along with that, I was impressed with his determination at the time when his leg was clearly ****ed.

One tough lad Foreman. He earned even more respect. I already respected him as you do with any boxer but to fight on with a torn acl showed such courage.

Curtis great shout on Gatti. His face when that bodyshot landed he could of stayed down but go right back up..Ward was all over him bodyshot after bodyshot and Arturo wouldn't go down and then somehow..started to launched vicious onslaught on Ward. Emotional stuff :yep

    keep em coming lads :good

    Top Class Post Mate. Amazing

Howard Winstone fighting virtually with one hand after losing 3 tips of his fingers in a factory accident. Basically a left handed fighter because he had lost power in right.
Went on to be one of greatest Champions Britain has ever produced.

    :good

The link to the 1967 SI article alluded to in the last one I posted, gives real good insight into him :good - http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1079965/1/index.htm

I'm absolutely desperate to see him in action...the way you read him described he sounds like a fascinating fighter to watch, must be something like Augustus I would imagine.

I don't even know which fights of his were filmed.

Maybe not the right thread to suggest this one, and it certainly isn't a triumphant display of adversity. But Johnny Owen fighting on rounds 10-12 in his tragic fight with Pintor. Shows what bravery in the ring can cost a fighter, and Johnny was one of the bravest of them all.

Its really hard viewing, he just wouldn't quit.

:-( so so sad, just goes to show that boxing has come on leaps and bounds in terms of emergency treatment to fighters. What a fighter Johnny was.
