but everytime i see andy lee i see a ko. his punching technique is top notch, i mean world level, again as it as been said another irish and britsh fighter is vulnerable, like ****ing groves! ****
...except against Horta or Fitzy? That leaves Hafner and Cunningham (both garbage) and Jackson who until then had been kicking Lee's arse. Fair play to Andy, pulled a great punch from outta there, but he was getting his arse kicked and looking **** and that makes thrice now (looking ****) in his last five outings since the Chavez loss...coincidentally when he thrice faced even remotely live bodies.
Yeah I thought Lee got away with one here, he looked horrible up until that point. He got the KO though so fair play to him but he needs to step it up a lot if he's going to compete at a decent level.
Andy can pull off an occasional highlight-reel ko - usually against weak opposition, but Andy is not a sufficiently well-rounded boxer to make it at higher levels IMO. Against JJ all the old familiar shortcomings were in evidence. Poor guard, head up in the air, getting easily bullied, pushed into the ropes, caught square, hit flush far too often with silly punches etc etc etc. People will remember the highlight-reel ko. But in reality Andy is just too limited a boxer overall. No point in prolonging the agony of his "promised-much-delivered-little" career. For his own good, he should retire immediately IMO.
I was with you up until this point. Why does he need to retire? The guy is a good gatekeeper and can have a good, long career in that position. Not every boxer needs to be a world champion. Lee is hardly a bum. He's a solid boxer who is a good name on anybodies resume but a few steps behind world class. I see him basically as been another Brian Magee and there's nothing wrong with that.
He's tough as ****, I know that much. The punch he caught in the first round would've knocked out 99.9% of fighters. He was hurt for a split second and then fine. Great chin. But yeah, he takes way too many punches and was on to a loser before he walked Jackson on to that stunner.
