A bit like in golf or tennis...what about seniors boxing.
So many people are in great shape post 40 or 45 these days..why should a 45 year old have to compete on level terms with a 25 year old ?

No offence but a 80 year old can shoot a round of 150 or lose a Golden set against Nadal, and laugh and walk away. A 45 year gets flattened in boxing, and they might have taken a decade off their life expectancy.

Golf isn't a sportive darts you can play that in your 40s

    Tennis peak is 20-27

Agassi won 5 slams between 29-33 but the truth was his best year by far for skill level was in 1995 in his mid 20s, he just ran into peak Sampras
Rose wall and Gonzales are other examples of tennis players with longevity

But as a rule 24-25 is the best year for a tennis player

On the flip side someone like bjorn born was completely burnt out by 26

    Boxing peak is around 30-33
But boxers fall off really fast
In boxing experience goes a long way, which is why some guys can stay

If they want to start an over 50, boxing league, I don't see why not as long as guys can pass the pre fight physicals, and drug test..
Hell I see a lot of seniors, over 55 in the gym where I work out at benching over 300 lbs, and running 3 to 4 miles without stopping, they are in better shape than a lot of dudes in their 20's.

Have you really declined that much physically from when you were in your 20s? I guess it just depends on the person though. But I know a lot of older people that are extremely fit and spry. The championship, elite level is one thing; age becomes much more apparent at the top level, where small differences in speed, reflexes, and timing make a lot of difference over the course of the fight. But I know plenty of guys that are 45-50+ that are extremely formidable; and of course, plenty of others at that age that are in **** poor shape!

I thought they already did: Holyfield, Holmes, Hopkins, Marquez, Martinez. These new "modern nutrition and exercises" make you fight like you're ten years younger.

People can stay in shape well past forty these days with better nutrition and knowledge although as i know there is no shortcut...5 days a week in the gym and a good diet..i just think a seniors section wouldnt be a bad addition.
