Checkout this Alexis Arguello highlight at the top of the page. Its the only Arguello highlight I recall seeing on the net.

Damn, that highlight clip should be required viewing. If anyone claims to be a fan of the sport and isn't impressed by that, it's time for a switch to something like competitive knitting. Thanks for posting that Shareef. :thumbsup

Good stuff boo. Between this and the Taylor thread, I'm loving the attention given today to some great fighters from the not-too-distant past.

For anyone who likes to keep track of those kinds of things, Arguello had 21 title fights in his career. 17 ended with him winning by knockout.

That's one thing you can't help but notice when you watch him. Excellent distance control also. He was very clever at what he did in there.

The explosive thin man! He was a great all around fighter. Imagine what that says about Aaron Pryor?

Good stuff, Arguello was 1 of the greats, he was a bit slow but did everything correct & was a true warrior with dynamite in both hands.

    :thumbsup

Very true, I wish boxing had more fighters like him. Even though Arguello's one of a kind, more people emulating that aspect of him could only help the sport.
