    Alfonso Zamora, the 21 year-old - 5' 4" 118 lb. 'Mexican Knockout Sensation'
    brought in a 20-0-0 (20 KO's) record.

Suprisingly, Alfonso was only ranked as the #9 WBA Bantamweight.

The 24 year-old WBA Bantamweight Champion from South Korea, Soo-Hwan Hong,
    was making the '2nd-Defense' of his Championship. Soo-Hwan 28-2-2 (7 KO's), a
    powerfully built 5' 6" slugger, had a swarming-style with a non-stop attack.

Soo-Hwan had never fought outside South Korea, but had a suprisingly good
fan base support at the The Forum that Friday Night.

Carlos Zarate fought Joe Guevara on the undercard of the
Soo-Hwan Hong vs Alfonso Zamora WBA Bantamweight Championship.

Both fighters were managed by Cuyo Hernandez of Mexico.

    Again, suprisingly, the younger 21 year-old Alfonso Zamora 20-0-0 (20 KO's)
    was ranked higher than the 23 1/2 year-old Carlos Zarate 32-0-0 (31 KO's)
    at the time.

The WBA ranked Alfonso at #9 and Carlos at #11.

The muscular upper-body of the 5' 4" Alfonso Zamora resembled that of a 135 lb.
weight lifter, while his lower body and legs looked like that of a 112 lb. Flyweight.

IIRC, his downfall was also accelerated by increasing struggles to make weight.

I imagine that was after his winning battle vs. Sandoval? That win provided a brief career resurgence, but also turned out to be his last hurrah.
