    Fellas,

I have "Ali-Chuvalo 2" rolling right now on the VCR..... No, not a great action-packed fight, but entertaining.....

Ali did prove that at age 30, he still had his speed and savy at 217 pounds.... Ali pretty much boxed circles around George Chuvalo, jabbing, circling and crossing over with right hands....

George Chuvalo was muscular and in good shape, but just too crude and slow to really amount anything sustained or successful against the master Ali............

NO! Ali really couldn't hurt Chuvalo with his power, but, he did slice and dice him rather well with sharp punches.... Chuvalo looked really frustrated...

    Any thought or care???

An interesting anecdote is that Chuvalo thought he should have won that fight.

Bigjake, do you know if Chuvalo lifted weights as a boxer? He certainly looked to be one of the strongest of his era.

    P.S.

As for "Ali-Chuvalo 2," I wouldn't stay home on a Friday night to replay the tape if other things are lined-up.....:-(

Chuvalo did seem like he tossed a few weights around in the gym or at home.... Though George Chuvalo seemed like he was naturally stocky.... He was a solid dude in his prime........

I have Ali-Chuvalo 2 at home, the full fight minus the 1st rd, decent fight, a bit one sided but so were most of Ali`s fights when he was prepared with the exception of a couple of Futch trained fellows.

I also have the 1st fight in 65 or 66, you can see the difference in Ali`s speed & movements in each fight, he is quicker in the 60s but still mighty impressive in the 70s fight.

He must have been one of the pioneers, then. I've also heard that Norton lifted weights in the 70's, but there's conflicting reports there.

Hey, ease up on that! I'm 34 and as quick as I ever been, dammit! :-(
