Dunn didnt have much natural talent ,but you couldnt fault his heart and commitment ,unlike Bugner,who waltzed nthrough his title shot imo.

 

I totally agree. Despite not being a patch on Bugner (christ, what an insult) Dunn tried to beat Ali, Joe was just doing his usual 'just glad to be here' impression.

 

Yeah I just watched the "Thrilla in Manilla" and the "Rumble in the Jungle"-Ali was a real chicken **** :roll:

As for being a draft dodger in light of what an absolute balls up the U.S.A made of Vietnam I'd say Ali was absolutely vindicated in not having anything to do with that stupid and unnecessay **** fight.

Still it's good to see Red Smith is alive and well and posting here on E.S.B.

He did not. I'm saying Ali should have gone to the body when Young's head was out of range / his body was caught on the ropes. In this situation, Young's body is a stationary heavy bag. Ali should have taken advantage with body shots.

If he had, Young would stop sticking his head through the ropes.

Yes, in some fights, he was a badass, I mean I do like his boxing ability, and also his ability to slug when he wanted to. But nany fights he might have well worn a skirt, dancing all night cause he didn't want to mix it up. And he was never vindicated for draft dodging, talk about chicken ****. Since when is it up to the indavidual being drafted to decide if the war is just enough for him to particapate. He's a chickin ****. Young people went and gave their life, and here you have so many poeples boxing idol say its against my religion. What crap!

 

Can you name another Heavyweight in the top twenty that was drafted at the same time as Ali? If not why do you think that is?
Ali could have gone and had a cushy tour doing morale boosting and exhibitions ,well away from the front line,instead he chose to sacrifice his livelyhood , had his passport taken away and lost 3 and a half years of his prime.Real chicken ****. At least try and be objective.

Out Ali'd Ali? He did no such thing. Ali never once in all his fights ever stuck his head through the ropes. The only times he ever did this was while entering and leaving the ring.

 

Ali did worse things in the ring like torturing people. :thumbsup

 

First of all, Ali's dancing was strategic and it was beautiful to watch. No one did it like him. Secondly, Ali's decision not to be inducted has absolutely nothing to do with his ability to fight. Let's leave politics out of this, shall we?
