He wasnt a great fighter or a particularly memorable one...but people took his record on the boxrec as gospel and many refused to believe that his 3-5 record was incomplete, even though it was pretty obvious it was. It just didnt add up that he challenged for 2 world titles, and took on several world ranked opponants but only had 8 fights in a 4 year career according to boxrec. My copy of his fight with Duran didnt have the introductions...I though I had his fight with Ishimatsu lined up to watch but it fell through. But I may have found his real record...I just randomly stumbled on an article in a Costa Rican newspaper that puts his final record at 75 fights...66 wins...9 losses. Which aint to shabby. I dont know if thats news to anyone...but I feel slightly relieved I finally know this now.
