    I remember reading he got into trouble for fraud.

    After a quick search on the t'interweb I found out the following;

    He was promoter/agent to Nigel Benn, Linford Christie, John Barnes, John Fashanu and Paul Ince among others.
    He was sentenced to prison a number of times from 1991 to 2002 all for fraud related charges.
    As of 2007 he is supposed to be acting as a consultant to Dennis Hobson.

    One other thing I found and I dont know if this was THE Ambrose Mendy, but in 2002 he apparently set a world record for eating 3 Jacobs Cream
