Would be interesting and could work but khan has a habit blaming anyone but himself from coach's to Strength Coach's etc his the right age to learn now before he take's too many more shot's but will he change will we see what hatton did vs pacuquiao going back to what he knows ???

it would take years to develop, khan has always had a high guard sweetpea teaches a lower guard with a lot more head and upper body movement

its too far in the opposite direction imo, and khans chin might not hold up well if he doesnt have the upper body movement to avoid shots

Amir needs to start taking some of the blame himself. Nobody is putting a gun to his head and saying "be 100% offensive/entertain the fans". It's cool that he wants to do that, but it's ultimately HIM that does it, Roach and co. are not always to blame.

 

southpawslayer i some what agree with what you say Pernell wouldn't be 100% effective for him but he is young to change how he approaches a fight older boxer who use there speed change boxers change there styles depending on who they are boxing the last two time's out he has just wanted to put on a show too much show boating and not enough work being done his got the speed his a good boxer but what is his biggest downfall is his ego of late nipple your spot on just curious if he was too pick a new coach who should it be people ???

 

**** no. He's not even a trainer. The night before Khan-Judah, he was in the casino pissed out of his head. Also, in training with Judah's camp, his sparring partner had a feature where he said Judah made some spasticated move where he jumped back with two feet and Pernell liked it.

He's no trainer, he just tries to influence the boxers with his own style. He didn't even take Judah on the pads, some other guy did. All Pernell did was yell instructions such as "stay low" - like that's really going to help Khan, right?

There's nothing wrong with the trainer not doing the mitts, but Whitaker would be an awful fit for him.

The only way Whitaker will ever make a good trainer is if he gets a kid at a young age.

Pea could do things in his sleep that Amir won't ever get close to doing

As it is, he probably gets frustrated at the sheer ineptness of his fighters compared to what he could do, and it affects his work.

 

From that article in the other thread, it looks like he will be getting someone from the goldenboy team. Hopkins or even Oscar?

 

Sweet Pea is not a trainer. He was a brilliant fighter, and learnt from one of the best in George Benton, but he was assured in his style before he hooked up with Benton.

He was a natural fighter, inside and out, offensively and defensively. He couldn't teach that to anyone, let alone the thickest lad in boxing.

Pea's style was also down to his reflexes. Khan should go to a good European trainer that will teach him high hands, a slow pace and pure safety.

 

That would possibly be the most disastrous pairing of all time.

 

This, in it's entirety. The virtues of concentration, and a defensively conventional style is what's needed here.
