Amir Khan Second Interview

Good interview but he needs to stop talking about becoming world champion imo.
Also why has he not been having better sparring partners already at this stage of his career? The whole set up seems ridiculously amatuerish.

 

Because in my opinion they've managed his career with money at the front of their minds, not his development as a fighter...

 

I agree and not wanting to leave Bolton is and was a big hindrance too.

He came across well, but right at the end he reminded me of Audley. They both say the right words, but in reality they both lack that true desire.

 

People are ripping this kid to peices, but he is a great bloke and I'm now a fan with how much personality he has shown after this loss. He just comes out, smiles, and says look I got beat but I want a rematch. Cracking bloke. :good

 

good interview.... i like him a bit more now..... Still think he's a terrible hype job....who's made more money than others more deserving in the pro game... nut all the best for him

 

Sounds OK to me.

 

I think it sounds delusional and Khan has done this before, getting ideas above his station and it has cost him.
He was talking about fighting Hatton, Campbell etc when he was so far away from that level even before he lost.
He should be concentrating on working on all areas of his game as he seems to have learnt so little in the pro game.
He's still young so stop talking about world titles and try to become the best in Britain first.
The main problem was he said in the other interview he still thinks he will be world champion in twelve months time.

Well in this interview all he says is that he would like to try and prove the doubters wrong - those who say he isn't good enough to ever become a world champ. He doesn't say he will be world champ - he says he will try. If that is a bad thing to say - then so be it - personally I don't see that as a particularly bad thing to say. If you feel that it is - then fair enough.

 

That isn't the point I'm trying to make.
It's not impossible that he could become a champion obviously but after such a loss he should be concentrating on domestic level imo.
Talking about being world champion in twelve months in this division is alot different to Gavin Rees' claim to fame isn't it.

 

Divisions change quickly.

I was only really commenting on the interview the thread is about. Most people in life set the bar higher then what they can achieve.

Perhaps he should concentrate on the domestic scene...I'm not even a fan of his, but I just think the stick he is getting is way over the top.

I wasn't giving him stick anyway, I said it was a good interview.
I just feel he needs to stop talking about world title aspirations and concentrate on things closer to the reality of where he is at now.
How is that giving him stick?
