The thing that sets the greats apart from the rest in most sports is the time they have to execute. The great footballers often look like they are going in slow motion because of their balance and poise, but nobody can catch them. Let alone strip them of the ball.
he is unreal...it's nice to see a guy who has both athletic skill, and skill in his trade guys like shields may have nice bjj....but as a pure athlete, he is painful to watch silva is as much an athlete as he is a fighter....pleasure to watch, and he will be missed when he decides to hang them up
I think they might be beginning to fade just a bit because a few of Okami's jabs were able to land but I really don't know because Okami certainly has a better jab than Griffin and he really didn't land that frequently. Hell, maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there simply because he's getting old and I expect that to happen but all the same, declining or not, his reflexes and boxing ability still trump 99.9% of the rest of the MMA talent pool. The guy is amazing and for my money, he's usurped Fedor as the ATG simply due to the level of dominance and finishing he's brought to the game and the fact that his competition was undeniably better.
Andersons great but to a certain extent it is competition. HE wont be doing that with Hendo (he has fought him so props.) He wont be doing that to Jon Jones. Hed get plastered.
Of course he wouldn't do it to Jones, not only is the guy a bad stylistic match-up to begin with but he's a weight class up and much bigger. In his own division, however, he's faced and beaten every style which is why you can't say that it's about the competition. 185 has as many good contenders as any other division, the difference being that the top guy is THAT much better than the rest.
I think at this stage if he drops his hands against Hendo either man will get KTFO. He's got that 6 inch punch, watch him frame by frame, you see a blur before impact.. Sick. I love his fighting and listening to the commentators as they watch.. Ken Flo said he is the ATG.
Jon Jones is a bad style matchup for Silva, I`m a big Anderson-fan but I can`t deny that he would lose to Jones
Why would he fight Jones? And i havent seen anything from JJ to say that he has better boxing than Anderson.
He doesn't have better boxing. What he does have, however, is a better overall clinch game, more leverage to implement it, far superior wrestling that will most definitely plant Anderson at will, competent enough stand-up to get to takedown range, and brutal GnP that will **** Silva up a lot more than Sonnen's pitty-patty.
i've **** on Anderson alot for some of his fights. but my god he is unreal when he is on. the best in the world with out question
