He's my favourite boxer to watch, just wanted to know if he has scheduled his next fight yet can't wait for it:hi:
Berto is on the fast track to stardom, that aggresive style might get him a few losses but he'll always be fun to watch. . . kinda like Shane.
Well I guess in the sense that both guys would be susceptible to knockouts, which somewhat doubles the drama...I'm not sure it would be that much better (or better period) as an action fight than Mosley-Berto though.
Berto is fun to watch. Just afraid to jump on the wagon at this point. Reminds me of the way Jeff Lacey use to look. Not style wise, but the impression their punches leave.
Might be now or never. Before the Cotto fight, Shane and Jin had stated numerous time that it would be two, three more fights TOPS. If Berto takes five years to reach his prime Shane'll be long gone. Probably a huge mismatch at the moment, even with Shane's diminished reflexes. I say make it now and let it be a valuable learning experience (and exposure) for Andre if he loses. If by some chance he were to win - it'd accelerate his career by years.
I hope his manager/promoter aint taking your advice. This fight makes almost no sense at this point. . . Berto needs to be brought up the ladder not thrown to the top step. Zab makes much more sense as an opponant - he has the more questionable chin and can be broken down. Shane showed in the Cotto fight that he will not be broken. Zab gets weaker as the fight goes on, Berto doesnt lose anything, Shane doesnt either. Its not like Berto-Shane is a big PPV fight - but it would be a BIG risk. Not gonna happen. I would look for Berto to get by Zab and fight a guy like Joel Julio late next year - good opp for Julio to get back up there and Berto would be a solid favorite.
Berto's management would be damn fools to put him in with Mosley right now. Mosley would eat him up, as I see it. Judah would be a lot to handle as well.... Berto is used to having a speed edge, and his defense is dubious at best. I would pick Judah in this one as it stands. Would be a great test if he could pass it.
Historically, just taking on another young hungry hard-punching lion (even a still-developing and technically limited one) would be a great swansong for legacy - whether or not Berto ever becomes anything great. From Berto's POV I think it makes sense too - I disagree with everyone saying his handlers would be crazy to make the match. While I think he'd very likely lose, it would be an exciting fight and his most visible exposure to date. People would say, "Hey I want to see this guy again". Of course afterward the fact that there's the "He was too green to be thrown in with Mosley" excuse to fall back on only helps him. Losing to a first-ballot HOFer who's still capable of excelling at the elite level is NOT going to do irreparable damage to anyone's career. What would make Berto's people insane, IMO, would be to pass up a Shane fight if one came down the pipe.
