... have won the WBA belt had Kessler not agreed to travel to the States.

In fact he would not have won the WBA or WBC belts had Kessler and Froch refused to enter the tournament.

Furthermore, Ward would not have become the undisputed number one at the weight had Bute refused to face Froch in England, as there would've been another undefeated titlist active at the weight.

My point is that all champions should be obligated to travel. Not just Ward. Because if they didn't unification clashes would be virtually non-existant in an ever more global sport.

Kessler travelled to Oaklan because he got paid 2.5 Million to do so,and fight an unproven green fighter who he was the favorite to beat.

Dont make it sound like he made some selfless gesture that he did fofr the world boxing community.

Ward will travel to Britain if hes paid enough too.
He said as much last night.

Hearn needs to man up and pick up that phone though

But they did now he is champion so he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to. It would be good if he did travel though. But he is the champion if he doesn't fight Froch in England that fact wont change

That's not a mentality that's going to help the sport is it? Because if everybody behaved in that manner, we'd hardly ever see any unification fights any more, and we'll have to get used to the likes of Sven Ottke and Nathan Cleverly.

Furthermore, Mr Ward will eventually step up in weight. And when he wins a belt, he will be dependent on his promoters offering another fighter a sufficiently attractive deal to fight Andre in a suitable location; because if all other fighters refuse to travel Ward is going to end up a mere titlist.
