David Carmona came in over 3.6lbs.

This is getting ridiculous now, surely there needs to be bigger penalties?

Just seems mental, if Jamie McDonnell can make Bantamweight I don't think anyone has an excuse.

It's the ridiculous weight in the day before. It allows far to many boxers to crash the weight And fight in divisions they shouldn't be, weight divisions where made for a reason.

It’s a disgrace. Fighters need to be forefeiting 75% of their purse if they miss weight. They’ll soon make it or move up.

Why put yourself through all that. Just go up a weight class. Looks like torture and doesn't look healthy at all.

I watched a show about Terrance Crawford making weight and it was absolutely brutal and imo totally unsafe...

How a fighter can get in a ring little more than a day after being at deaths door is plainly stupid

No I haven’t seen that. He’s from my city and I know a few lads from the gym. I actually know one who was in the corner on the night. I knew days before that he had been struggling to make weight, he had been training 3 times a day all week in full tracksuits with heating on to try and make weight. He got it horribly wrong, luckily for him didn’t do too much damage to him.

Years ago as a result of boxers such as Paul Ingle suffering brain damage caused by dehydration the boxing authorities decided to introduce check weight monitoring and weigh in 36 hours prior to contest. Proper check weight monitoring by the respective board needs to be tightened up if anything but weighing in 36 hours before bout needs to be rethought. You have guys who walk around at 12 stone fighting at featherweight! Now I would suggest that if 2 middleweights /light middleweights are boiling themselves down to fight at feather it isn’t doing them a favour health wise or even performance wise. If they returned to weigh in on midday of the fight weights would be nearer to their actual weight .The UFC is perhaps worse for weight cutting ?
