The weigh-in should be the day of the fight. Seems as if more and more boxers are missing weight lately................what's going on?

The day of the fight wouldn't stop weight cutting.
It would just be more dangerous with less time to rehydrate.

Maybe this is wildly wrong, but anyone who misses weight by more than 2lb is forced to go up in weight in his next fight?

I think the original belief was that giving the boxer 36hours to rehydrate would be a positive but let’s be brutally honest boxers and the majority of coaches saw that as an opportunity to cut more weight so instead of a featherweight getting to bantam the expectation is now getting to flyweight. I have actually been quite conservative there purely to illustrate the point which is the possibility of dehydration has not been reduced. The pictures of Jamie McDonell on the scales was shocking and hard to justify. The only people who can ensure that fighters are protected is the ruling bodies and they need to have correct procedures to see the fighters are not cutting ridiculous amounts of weight 20/30lbs drop in a 36 hour period cannot be sensible for long term wellbeing?

Happened again in the UFC. Yoel Romero had two hours to lose weight and he’s ended collapsing I believe. If you have a look at Ariel Helwani’s whole feed about it, it’s half frightening. Maybe fighters need to start getting weighed maybe 2 weeks out and need to be x amount then 1 week out x amount. So the last week/ few days doesn’t become dangerous and/or detrimental to someone’s health.

It would stop dramatic weight cutting. The result is that pretty much every boxer would end up having to move a weight class up at least.
