ok fighter 1 lost the round so he get's 9 points right?

fighter 2 won the round so he get's 10 pts minus the 1 point deduction = 9 points

9-9 rd . at least that's how I've seen it in quite a few fights.

    Ten-point must system

    From Boxrec Boxing Encyclopaedia

    • A system of scoring whereby the winner of a round must receive ten points, and the loser of the round nine points (eights points, if knocked down; seven points, if knocked down more than once and thoroughly dominated by his opponent). If there is no clear winner, each boxer must be awarded ten points. Note, however, although a boxer may win the round, he can lose a point by committing a foul, in which case the round likely would be scored nine points for each boxer.

Yes it's 9-9 since Fighter 1 WON the round but lost a point due to penalty making it 9-9.

No, not if there's a deduction.

I think more rounds should be scored 10-10. Too many fights hinge on the scoring of the close rounds which are highly subjective; it's better that the clear rounds make the difference. Take a fight with 8 close rounds and 4 decisive rounds for fighter A. If a judge backs fighter B for the close rounds he scores the fight for fighter B, even if fighter B didn't win a single round decisively.

Thank you for the links and saving us the rest of the time to prove this statement wrong. Hell I'll quote it just for the fun of it as well.

I didn't get too far into the thread and got annoyed really fast. People debate 'facts' here. Damned, if you can type to a message board you sure the fsck should be able to do a quick google. But it really puts 'opinion' on this board squarely in perspective, doesn't it? :yep

Honest question because Im new to trying to learn boxing scoring. Is it possible for a hypothetical 9-9 round? I know that sound stupid with you explaining the meaning of "10 point must" but isnt it possible to have a round that say you would have given to 1 fighter except for possibly a flash knockdown? In that case it'd make sense that the 10-9 round (if you thought the guy who got flash kd still won the round) into a 9-9 round since you have to deduct the point for the KD. Just curious.

  12. No man, you clearly don't know your boxing. You are absolutely wrong, no other way to say it. 10 point must system includes even rounds which are scored 10-10, and although they are very rare they do indeed happen.. and are perfectly legal....and always have been. :deal

If you call yourself a boxing fan, this is one of those things you don't need to look up.

I don't take it too seriously. I've come to the conclusion that most of us boxing fans are just like little schoolgirls who get red in the face when someone insults their favourite boyband.

I just laugh at the "facts" thrown around and watch the bitchfights with amusement. Its quite good therapy :good

Yes, if there is PENALTY point deducted. Not for KD's.
