I think he's a class act for the type of boxer he is. can't ever see him as a world beater or a linear champ but he's definately not afraid to face anyone, and after being slapped into a stoppage by joe calzaghe, took to time to become active.

he's now pitched against j. lacey and probably looking for a slugfest. win lose or draw, no doubt he's take on many more fights over the years as a real fringe contender.

he reminds me of a throwback from the 1930-1940's

He's not an elite fighter by any means, but he is willing to fight anybody/anytime. I respect the kid...

I like Manfredo. Down to earth personality, fearless and determine. I think he could have done alot better against Calzaghe, he was never gonna win but the stoppage is BS. Im rooting for him against Lacy and I think he has the skill to beat Lacy.

Manfredo isnt a bad guy but what the hell is he doing in the SMW division. He would probably be good at Jr MW but allowing yourself to be ***** slapped 20 times on the ropes just shows YOUR NOT IN THE RIGHT WEIGHTCLASS

Manfredo is the best to ever come from the contender. He is a real fighter. He fought against a real champ, then came back with two quick wins so he isn't out of the mix and now he wants to fight a good solid former champ. Win or lose, Manfredo is a real fighter trying to find his real worth as a fighter.

More than you can say for bollocks like Mora. What the **** happened to Brewer? All those excuses about never being prepared and now that he finally gets his chance to have a 10 week camp for every fight he bails.

No, I used to like him, even though I did not think he was that great a boxer, but he lost all my respect when he before the Calzaghe fight stated, "I'm no Jeff Lacy". I remember thinking, no you are not, Lacy went the distance you won't.
Hopefully Lacy will KO him badly when they fight just to further prove that Manfredo definately is no Lacy.

Btw, does anybody know what happened to his fight against Green? Did he realise he would lose and chose to lose the bigger money fight against Lacy instead?

Good question about Brewer. Where is he?

Are you counting Forbes as a Contender figher? Because I don't think Manfredo is better than Steve.

Good post, Brooklyn. He usually gives a great effort and comes to fight, plus he's not a jerk.

Also, when I was in Providence on a business trip a few years ago, I worked out at his Dad's gym and they were good people. :D

Brewer tore his ACL. Severe injury, takes a long time to heal from.

At this point in their respective careers, I'd pick Gomez to beat Mora or Manfredo. Has been more active, has improved more since being on the show, and has already beaten Manfredo once before.

Also, P4P, any of Bika, Soliman or Codrington is better than anyone from the Contender 1st season, and Forbes is as well.

Brick, thanks for the update on Brewer. I had heard he got hurt, but I couldn't verify it. I hope he heals soon and is able to get back in the ring.

i hear you, and agree that contender is very amereur, but IMO manfredo is the only "real" boxer from the series who gets respect - remember the spina ko?
