A case of not knowing what you had until it was gone.

I do in the sense that the division was ruled by a true dominant ATG. But to be honest, he could be pretty boring sometimes. His KOs were great though.

Yup. Proper physique as well. We got a guy with chicken legs, a bodybuilder, and a bunch of slobs from there.

    I do greatly.

I admit that I was not always a fan. The accusations of poisoning, the bad fights, and the calling out Maskaev when he was still in a hospital bed put me off.

But about the time he beat Calvin Brock I jumped on the wagon. I realized that he was going to have a very long and special reign, and he sure did.

Hope he is enjoying a well-deserved retirement. 2 two time champ with 23 defenses. Nuff said.

    No

I was an admirer of both brothers but there are more competitive top 10 action fights at the weight now. There are more risks being took by contenders and we saw years of K2 opponents being beaten before they were in the ring.

They had their time, now enjoy the new breed. Not as well schooled or polished,or outstanding head to head but much more fun.

Both him and his brother would be top three if they came back right now.

Wlad always carried himself with class and proved to be an ATG overcoming losses to rule the division for over 10 years. Definitely miss watching him operate.

Yeah, kinda miss the guy. At a minimum, he took the sport seriously by always coming to the fight in-shape, conducted himself like a gentleman outside the ring (and mostly inside), used his jab effectively, and minimized his weaknesses well. I always thought Wlad was very beatable so long as an opponent was willing to trade with him(as if he would go into a shell from almost any punch combination), which proved accurate in his career as well as the last fight with AJ. And him being 'beatable' made it all the more impressive that he lasted on top as long as he did. I'll give him props for that.

When Wlad was operating with intent to flatten the other guy he was an absolute pleasure to watch.

When Wlad was trying to win on points and minimize risk he stunk the joint out.

But yeah, he was a level above all the guys in the HW division right now. Shave 10 years off him and he runs through them like a bull through a china shop.

Fans never know what they want.. When Wlad stunk out the joint vs the clearly overmatched Sultan Ibragimov I can remember people saying it was the worst HW unification fight ever.. Wlads a disgrace who lacks the killer instinct.. Same was said after the Haye fight he was afraid to take risk.. Emmanuel Steward has to beg him on multiple occasions to take chances and finish an overmatched opponent..

Fans never appreciate fighters while their active.. it’s only after they retire when people recognize their greatness.. Same will be said about the current fighters now when they retire..
