I cant see him going to light heavy.. been heavyweight for so long and at his age doubt it.. I know he carries what appears to be alot of fat around the gut but that frame had him still regarded the greatest unstoppable force until a few months ago..
and cottos only 30 but hes slowed down, the man has fought in the trenches his whole career give him a break. Big nog is also "only" 34 and the ****er looks 50. not everybody is couture or hopkins, they are the exception to the rule and now people expect everybody to fight till 40 at peak condition.
he was never a guy that looked like he trained that hard. I would suggest he gets a new set of trainers or adopts a new attitude if he's going on.
He decided to make a change, went to train out of russia for the first time since 2005 maybe that will be different :hey
I believe they are right when mentioning that the sport quite possibly is passing him by................ he needs to retire our face 2nd tier comp to win a few before retiring. The big boys will beat him up worse than Silva.
Bull****, I think fedor would beat silva on a rematch, he just need to establish different game plan, everyone loses at UFC, 2 loses isn't too bad
He trained like a beast, there's heaps of videos online of him training, he just never trained that smart. He kept it very simple (running up and down a mountain twice a day), the only problem was he never changed it up. Totally agree that he either needs to bring in some fresh trainers or renew his attitude toward training. Even after he lost to Werdum he went off with the same group of trainers and trained the exact same way and he ended up getting beat by Silva. I'm inclined to agree with this. Ever since the Arlovski fight he just hasn't seemed that interested in fighting. Whether its a motivation issue or a case of injuries/fatigue building up he just doesn't seem as dedicated to the sport as he once was.
No one has passed Fedor, simply he just got old. Randy has nowhere near as many battles as Fedor, remember that Fedor was a top level Judo fighter and Russian rep with as good a record as many career Judo fighters. After this he then made a name for himself as the greatest Sambo and Combat Sambo fighter in the world. Then he became an MMA fighter. A prime Fedor would school every top level MMA HW today. Aging happens to every fighter. Every top fighter today will age and get beaten by a less skilled fighter in the future.
Not really passed him by, more just left him behind. And Fedor seemed/seems quite content to let it happen.
Thats hypothetical bearing in mind the style of HW's that are competing in the sport today , Fedor in his hey day would of not had an easy night against todays Velasquez in a cage .....................
