I just watched the full Walker - Arreola fight. The only thing that Arreola seems to have is a hard punch. I didnt see any real boxing ability, speed, or even any sign of an affective defense. I know he is an accomplished amature but that was at 175 pounds. I dont think Arreola would last more then 5 or 6 rounds with the Klitschkos, Peter, or Haye, and I see him getting out pointed by guys like Valuev, Chageav, Gomez, and more. This guy seems to just plod foreward and throw awkward bombs, I dont see him as being a real threat in the HW division. He is also fat and needs to trim down 15 - 20 pounds and add some muscle and quickness in the process. Any thoughts on this guys future?
the heavyweight division is so damn bad....is damn sad we are still talking about arreola..... he would be a great fighter on usa Tuesday night fights in the 90s. no one is hyping him as the next coming.....everyone just wants to bash him..... he is what he is
No excuse for coming in at 254. Fight before that he came in at 258. Walker was landing at will with a simple 1-2. He did it all through the first and followed that same pattern into the 2nd. And then dropped Arreola with a right straight. If he's struggling with weight now, how the hell is he going to just magically start taking it seriously. I don't see it happening. Fighters who struggle with their weight typically only get worse with that struggle. Losing to Walker might have been more beneficial for Arreola than beating him. Solis v Arreola. This fight should happen. It would be exciting and maybe if Arreola were to watch some Solis fights to prepare for the match up it would motivate him to get in serious shape. Not that Solis is in great shape, but his skills trump Arreolas.
jesus you have a very low opinion of arreola you think peter could beat him after seeing peters last fight you honestly belive that? i give him a chance at beating anybody right now if he comes in at like 235 but in a few more fights i think he be unstoppable
Peter struggled with Vitali Klitschko. Arreola was struggling with Travis Walker. Big difference in opponents. Vitali throws punches straight like Walker. He would take out Arreola early.
If a fighter only has 1 strong ability how can you rate him as 'the future'? The fat blob does not have a cat in hells chance of going 12rounds with the current shape he is in, he needs to burn 30lbs of fat off at least to help him with his hand speed as it don't look like its improving in every fight.
Yet there are a number of other fighters who are the same way who people who knock Arreola seem to love around here. There are plenty of fighters in boxing history who have been successful on pressure, power and workrate alone. Not top world class necessarily, but more than successful enough.
I like watching him fight. But the fact that he doesn't have the discipline to come in at a decent weight and the limited opposition he has fought makes extremely suspect to me.
I think he can beat everyone except Haye and the klits. I just feel like he is very similiar to sam peter but a little bit better. I think the Klits will out box him from a distance just like they always do. Haye will just out box him however he has a dam good punchers chance against haye.
At least he's fighting guys that he should be fighting right now. It was too long ago when Malcolm Tann was considered to be a future heavyweight contender. Arreola did beat him when he was on a win streak. Witherspoon, Israel Garcia and Travis Walker are legit opponents at this stage in Arreola's career. Witherspoon and Walker more so than Garcia. But still. He's fighting other prospects. He could be doing much less. There's alot of guys out there at Cliff Couser's level. Arreola could be simply padding his record. But the fact that he can't get in shape is still bothersome.
he is not a bust but he is not the best either. I would like to see him and Haye fight...he has a good chin...he is tough as hell and he can box a bit....he is just a sign of how bad the hw div is,,,but he destroyed witherspoon and waker who were good amateurs
