Kabayel (best known for soundly outboxing Chisora 6 years ago) was an 8/1 underdog but KO'd Makhmudov (best known for having a difficult distance fight with 2018 Chisora KO victim Takam last year) in 4 rounds.

Russia’s answer to David Price was a forum hypothetical matchup king:

Makhmudov 32-3 Anderson

Makhmudov 20-3 Ajagba

Makhmudov 12-5 Bakole (post-Takam for both)

https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/bakole-vs-makhmudov.711798/

Makhmudov 19-0 Ortiz (pre-Takam and post-Ruiz)

https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/luis-ortiz-vs-arslanbek-makhmudov.692403/

Makhmudov 4-3 Hrgovic (pre-Takam and pre-Zhang)

https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/makhmudov-vs-hrgovic.682374/

Makhmudov 26-10 Helenius (pre-Wach and post-Kownacki 2 respectively)

https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/robert-helenius-vs-arslanbek-makhmudov.676001/

Makhmudov 12-7 Wilder (post-Fury 2)

Amazing how high some people can get on someone just because they're big ugly and punch hard

Note to all, all these big men can hit hard but if they haven't stepped up they're suspect. I guess the Takam fight threw people off the hypejob scent.

The only man who is an outlier is Francis Nnganou after proving he could take Fury's best easily and outwrestled him. No man born from their mother can beat him, just like Fury.

The Takam fight was a car wreck. Makhmudov won 6-4 on rounds in his adopted hometown of Toronto having scored 2 KD's and Takam was 41/42. Chisora had bombed Takam out in 8 more than 4 years prior to that.

I made this thread on Makhmudov a few months ago:

https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/would-makhmudov-have-beaten-the-best-versions-of-takam-and-wach.705902/

I'd like to see Ngannou fight Joshua. Hearn/Joshua may well think he's easy work post-Wallin and maybe he would be. It would be interesting and fun either way.

You forgot this one.

I think it's the only one I voted in. I have very few posts regarding Makhmudov. I put him in the same category as Knowacki and Browne in my brain. Guys who were hyped but I thought it was pretty obvious they weren't making it very far. I don't give these guys a lot of attention.

I included a Wilder poll thread and the problem with that poll is it didn't offer an option for Wilder winning. That was a joke thread made by an overawed Makhmudov fanboy.

Uncrowned ATG in the making Makhmudov had (hypothetical) wins over:

2020 Wilder
2021 Helenius
2022 Hrgovic
2022 Ortiz
2023 Bakole
2023 Ajagba
2023 Anderson

A stunning talent.

The only person I ever voted for Makhmudov against was in a poll of my own making, ahead of his fight with Erkan Teper (himself a once upon a time hype job...not to mention drug cheat)

https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/arslanbek-ruslanovich-makhmudov-vs-erkan-teper.673766/

...and wouldn't you know it, come fight night the big dumb Turkish-German lump was dropped thrice and quit on his stool after one round. :deal:

He never did anything to suggest being favored versus any of the names you listed, and half of those guys absolutely suck.

"Makhmudov would have a Brunson/Raymi like perfect KO1 streak against Wilder's early opp. Hell, straight on up to Stiverne."

This was overrating Makhmudov a tad. Emilio Ezequiel Zarate went past 1 and Julian Fernandez went past 2 in Makhmudov's first 13 fights. And I don't know whether Jonnie Rice, who took Makhmudov to the 7th, was better than the best of Wilder's first 32. Former WBO titlist and Brewster-conqueror Liakhovich for instance went on to go the distance in a competitive 10 round fight with future Joshua-conqueror Ruiz.

Other heavyweight hypejobs:

- Tyson Fury (lost to a boxing debutant)
- Deontay Wilder (lost 3/4 of his last fights, schooled by B level Parker)

Embarrassing that both are now over shadowed by a body builder who was previously labelled a hypejob.

"Hype-job"

"Future HOF"

2 over-used phrases. Almost always proved wrong.
