Didn't he say to Judah when he stopped the fight against Cotto "Sorry Zab, I love you too much" or something along those lines?
I wouldnt put it past him. He told Foreman ''I dont want to see you lose like that.'' Is he serious? How does he want to see him lose? So badly that he could be in a position to never box again because of the knee injury HE allowed him to fight on with? I cant stand him, people pay to see the fighters, not the ****ing ref.
He's a big safety issue in boxing IMO. I don't want to disrespect the guy but when it comes to people's lives, and it has remember, he clearly cannot be trusted in the boxing ring. A liability.
Me, I'd be perfectly happy to disrespect the guy. And I'm pleased to see others here feeling the same way. I really hate it when refs physically lay hands on the fighters and push them around, or give them little cheerleading pep talks (Steve Smoger, bless his heart, is a bit bad on the latter one too for instance).
But Smoger at least lets them fight. He doesn't get overly involved in the match - even though he really should have stopped Cotto demolishing Malignaggi!
