What can anyone tell me about him? What is his status? I am very impressed by him. The little bit I saw anyway... Thanks in advance
Seen all his fights so far. Can't wait to see the progression of his career. Another solid amateur with heavy hands.
He has been fighting in catchweight fights slightly over the light heavy limit. If he can make light heavy he will be the man to shatter Kovalev's and Stevenson's china chins. A very good boxer (but could be outboxed by someone like Ward or a speedy boxer who doesn't engage) and as strong as an elephant. He has a lot of potential, not sure how it will work out for him fighting out of Canada though.
He already beat him as an amateur, Beterbiev has been knocking out everyone with the headgear on. As a pro he'll land on Kovalev and he'll knock him spark out.
I don't doubt Kovalev's claim he lost 26-24 IIRC and Russian Amateur boxing is filled with politics and favortism especially when Lebziak was coach which he was at that time.
Yeah, it really sucks that he and Kovalev are rivals. Honestly those two guys are the best boxers im most excited about. I think they fight a lot alike. They are very similar. Except Beterbiev takes his time, but then again he's only 4 fights in or whatever it is. Beterbiev has the reflexes of a cat. I can look at a guy throw a couple punches and instantly tell what he'll be like. And it is hard to get truly enthused about a guy. But this guy, he has the goods. I love his style. He's a real fighter. Just sad he joined up with Adonis. It's also just a shame his nemesis is Kovalev. Very disappointing.
Kovalev does not have a china chin. Why do you say that? Second, Beterbiev will not be fighting Adonis. Adonis will be retired by the time Beterbiev is ready. Basically because Kovalev will KO him and take his belts. Also, Beterbiev is in Adonis camp.
Why does that suck, I think that's great! If Kovalev manages to take the LHW throne, there could be another great rivalry between him and Beterbiev, I know it's early but the potential future fight between them sounds very exciting to me.
Eh, i'd like to see them both fight different divisions against different fighters. Why would I like to see two great boxers come at the same time in the same division? So they can take turns beating up Sillakh? Yes, i'd love to see them fight again. Which I think they are destined to. But ...
Not as simple as that since Mekhontsev and Gvozdyk are equally good LHW prospects and they're all with GYM, Main Events or Top Rank who are willing to work with eachother. LHW is getting good now and it will continue getting better.
