Asian Fighters

Pac will be but Villa is not he died too young and didnt acomplished as much as Harada. Harada won titles at flyweight and bantamweight and was robbed in his attempt to win the featherweight title against Famechon,so in reality he shouldve been a three division champ in a time that there only eight weight divisions in boxing and only one champion in each division.
he beat quality fighters like Kingpetch,Ebihara,Medel,Rudkin etc and he also beat arguably the best bantamweight ever twice in Eder Jofre.

 

Right now Harada and Pacquiao are basically neck and neck as to who the greatest Asian fighter in history is.

But seeing as how Pacquiao as a few more years of his prime left, he'll probably shoot past Harada in the next couple of years.

Villa died way too soon, as did Masao Ohba. Khaosai Galaxy has an impressive record, but he looks completely one-dimensional (but what a dimension!) on film and his list of opponents is weak. Also names such as Flash Elorde, Jung Koo Chang, Myung Woo Yuh, Yoko Gushiken, Pone Kingpetch, and Jiro Watanabe need to be thrown in there, but they really don't have any claim to the best Asian fighter in history.

Hozumi Hasegawa is making a strong push to be listed among those men also. He's a very good fighter.

 

i'd rank harada above em all even if im filipino.

 

hozumi hasegawa from japan has plans to fight in the US i believe. Chris John recently fought Juarez in LA. Asian boxing is starting to emerge, big thanks to pac.

 

pacman will be rank higher than harada when he retires.

Pancho villa is still slightly ahead of pac and harada IMO

 

No big names in ASEAN boxing.Thais are low key they like Muay Thai more than Boxing. Thai's enjoy padding records at home and rarely leave.Indonesia do not own many computers.Heck, most of Indonesia do not even have TVs and soccer is number 1 sport in Indo.Koreans there's no big names and like Filos they're adventurous they go anywhere fo a fight.Japan are stay at home kind of boxer.

What?? Most of indonesian don't have Tvs and computers, because they produce and sell computers and Tvs to export abroad... lol

 

hmm says .... Pac maybe classified as the greatest Asian boxer in the history of the sport but a lot of experts think Pancho Villa was the greatest Filipino boxer. Just wikipedia the dudes story.

Anyways, here is the original East vs West...almost same scenario with Pac and Hat but with Pancho Villa and Jimmy Wilde (Welsh)... fought on u.s. soil and a world title was at stake.

anyone else surprised that there isn't an Asian boxing section on these boards?... it'll help give recognition and appreciation to many great and upcoming Asians in the lower weight divisions...

why the hell is villa ranked so highly? what has he done apart form defeating wilde (an inactive one at that). elorde ranks higher as far as im concerned.

I'd put Thailand ahead of Korea, by a longshot. Not only does Thailand have much more champions, but there's more television support there as well. Heck, the best recent Korean fighter quit and went to K-1 because he complained that there was no money in boxing in Korea.

There are a lot of countries in central asia where boxing is big as well (Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, etc.)

As for Asian boxers right now, other than Pac (and Penalosa), the ones who have impressed me the most are mostly Japanese. Hasegawa, Aoh and Nashiro are all quality fighters. Hasegawa is a legitimate top 20 P4P fighter right now.
