Now that these two greats are hopefully retired who do you regard as the better fighter?

Barrera beat Morales 3 times imo and was robbed blind in the first fight, Morales took a beating in that 1. Morales has a case for the rematch but Barrera edged that 1 too for my money.

Barrera was a champ for 11years (1995-2006), Morales champ for 7years (1997-2004). Both over 3weights BUT Morales was allot bigger often adding 10-14lbs on fight night while Barrera added little

Barrera also has wins over Hamed (huge), Mkkinney. Morales has wins over Pacquaio (HUGE), Junior Jones (Jones had just been ko'd by Mkkinney but a good win), Chavez and Chi. Both have wins over Ayala

Note Barrera has a good case for wins over Junior Jones and Marquez. Morales had a close fight with Espedas which some say he didnt win

I think Morales is lucky Barrera took Hamed out of the equation because Hamed was all wrong for him imo. Barrera is the more complete fighter. Faster, better defensively and a bigger puncher.

i think morales was more talented, but barrera was more controlled, while morales was an emotional wreck and fought on emotion

i've got a soft spot for morales, but i rank barrera higher, what greats though

Not a bad post. I do think Morales was the more accomplished of the two, but Barrera won their series and was arguably the more skilled fighter overall. Then again, he was beaten two times a piece (and destroyed in one of those bouts) by men that Morales beat, Jones and Pacquiao. They're pretty much even in my book.

What happened in Pac Barrera 2?

Barrera seemed to land a dirty cheap shot as the ref was separating them, and it appeared Manny to put out on his feet. He stumbled into the ropes and was on jelly legs, yet there seemed to be no power on the cheap shot

Nothing's been made of that incident but it's always stuck in my mind

    Barrera over Morales for me.

He won two out of three in their trilogy for me (I & III), yet Morales' win over Pac in their first fight gets him close, but its still MAB by a whisker.

I've had this discussion a few times, i'll cut my take on it short and make it simple for the readers. I used to think Barrera (while they were still active greats), now i lean more towards Morales
