Just read that Marco Antonio Barrera will fight again after a vacation with his family. His Brother say's on the scene that the butt from Khan was shameless and required 30 stitches to close.

Personally i think he should call it a day as the only reason for coming back in the first place was to win a Title in a forth weight class and as Saturday night showed Barrera should not be fighting at Lightweight.

    Any thoughts?

I thought that if the fight went the full 12 Barrera might very well have beaten Khan, even with the cut. Even though he lost the first 5 rounds.

I say this because waht i saw in the 5th, after Barrera ate 5 rounds of shots from Khan, I still saw Barrera land a right on Khan that visibly hurt him and shook him up, and then the fight was stopped 30 seconds later. Khan was throwing so many punches, yet Barrera was still trying to cut off the ring and forcing Khan to move around and expend energy.

There's a big difference between 5 rounds and 12. Khan has only been 12 once, and he sure was throwing alot of punches and moving alot.

The worst part is that the right hand is not even Barrera's money punch.

So like i said even with the cut Barrera might have caught up to Khan, without the cut its an entirely different fight.

Before the fight I thought Barrera was completely 100% shot. I think he pulled a Tarver on me. After Hopkins destroyed Tarver, Tarver looked like crap against a few tomato cans. I thought Tarver was shot and that Woods would easily outpoint him but Tarver trained his ass off and handed Woods an L.

I sorry but that is just blind hate for Khan or love for Barrera.

Despite being 5 rounds down and doing nothing with a gaping cut on his head bleeding profusly into his eyes (while being dominated and showing absolutly nothing in the first 5) he is going to go on and beat Khan?

Maybe if Khan had tired and Barrera managed to drag him into a fight, but those five round's were bad for Barrera, i think the size, speed and youth were too much. Barrera is too old to compete at the very top now and i don't want to see him get seriously hurt.

It could happen. I'm not saying it would but i think it was a possibility. He did manage to hurt Khan in the 5th. There are 7 more rounds to go after that.

Styles make fights, and MAB style is made for Khan to have an advantage, i have to agree with you, i never saw MAB beating Khan even before the fight, before the cut, after the cut, or now.

There needs to be an immediate rematch. He caught him a few times in the 5th and a poster made a thread about that mother ****er Frank Warren jumping out of his seat for no good reason only to have the ref break and stop the fight seconds later. Barrera was definently starting to time Khan coming in by that point.

Win or lose I'd like to see him retire after the rematch. Marquez and Pac will beat him again and he won't rule the division unless Marquez leaves.

He hurt him once I'll give you that but going by the evidence, and the cut - you have to say it could have been pretty nasty in their for MAB had it carried on.

I can't see him going on to win with that cut like you say he could.

The cut was the same in the 1st, in the 2nd, in the 3rd, in the 4th, and in the 5th. It didn't get any worse.

If anything maybe MAB was getting used to it a little bit.

Explain to me whats the logic behind stopping the fight in the 5th round due to that cut?

I'm not talking about the timing of the stoppage, that's another issue.

Imo, there is no way going the distance he beats Khan (carrying that cut). Apart from the one occasion, he did nothing in 5 rounds and to be honest he was being totally dominated for all that time.

A 35 year old small guy/weight (who age badly in boxing terms) who only fights for one minute a round nowadays anyway, is never going to come on strong later on against a 22 year old kid.

I dont wanna see MAB get hurt. I hope he retires maybe after a win against someone not too dangerous.

i absolutely love barrera and i was really hoping that he still had a title run left in him. i watched the fight he had against sammy ventura and knew he didnt have it. i didnt see the fight against the non discript dude he fought in mexico, then the khan fight got announced. neither one of these guys should have taken it. it wouldn't have, and didnt, done/do anything for their careers.
marco fighting is like the girl you have to give up, but cant.
