I know this isn't "British Boxing" - but I was wondering what everyones thoughts are on this fight and the unnecessarily long career of MAB in general? :good
id love to see Marco be the first mexican 4 weight world champion, absolutely love it. looking at the pics from sat night he looks well to old. he's an educated man with resume to be proud of and i think he should start to call it a day. he has stated this will be his last year in boxing.(and i hope it is) The man is a Legend:toney
I watched the fight - it was just like another day at the office for him. This Arias geezer was way out of his depth - even against the current version of MAB. Agreed - I would love to see Barrera to make it to 4, he's a legend. I was curious as to why I haven't seen anyone talking about the fight.
He's not doing it for money, he's doing it because he wants to box. I know 50 year olds who climbs rock faces risking their lives every weekend, let the guy do what he wants.
i read about it over at the scenic, i might try and see if its on you tube and give it a watch and post it over here
He still looked pretty quick considering how old, heavy set he is these days. Barrera did what he does, use the jab to set up his straight punches, put his punches together in combo when he found the target. I still love watching him, not sure I'd like to see him in there with someone who could hurt him though.
yea his hands did look pretty fast considering. he needs a bigger step up next time to gauge what he can still do
I was actually quite impressed in how he performed the fight before, talking about the fight with De Jesus. I do worry about MAB against taller, younger, harder punchers with speed.
Id have no problems watching Barrera knocking over tomato's for another 12 months then call it a day , i love the guy , he's a legend and his skills are still there !!! Its a pretty sad sight these days physically though , he's a long long long way from being that crafty super fit FW .......... , i love the guy , but who is he going to beat @35 to take a world title ??? , if i had one wish in the boxing world right now , it would be for Barrera to lift another world title :deal
Here's a post I left the other day in the 'what fights did you watch today?' thread. It's pretty long, I mostly just described the fight, but you get the gist of it:
Jose Arias got in with afew clean hits on barrera - thats not a good sign, it'll only get worst for barrera when he step's up.
