If you notice in the fight the ref was very quick to count. I think Fields should have been given a full ten count, and he would have beaten the count. Fields was controlling the fight up to that point, it's a shame he was cheated like that.

Not a big fan of Barrett, but it was nice seeing him beat a hot prospect. He learned his lesson from the Valuev loss a bit I could say. Good for him tho. He seems like a nice dude.

Barrett used to be seen as a somewhat promising fighter and beat some decent opponents, then he seemed to hit a brick wall, whenever he faced someone from the upper tiers. Same ol story we've seen countless times, right? I think the Mesi loss may have been about the last time he was seen as a prospect.

Anywy, after the Valuev faisco, its good to see Barrett do this to Fields. Fields is no hot prospect, but he is big as hell and this win does give Barrett a bit of clout. Not much, but a WEE bit.

That would be a hell of a fight. I'd even give Friday a slight edge at this point if he keeps his hands moving.

Barrett is a very skilled guy, has never had a lot of power to back it up.

As for Fields, I kind of feel sorry him. I chatted with him several times back on the midwest circuit years ago and he really is a nice dude. He simply is not and never has been a world class fighter. Barrett was one, Arum bet that his days were past, but Barrett showed that even slightly declined world caliber boxers will beat king of the circuit any day.

However, unlike many, I credit Fields for having the balls to step in there. His recent strategy of swarmer, throwing 100 punches per, pretty much ensured he was going to hit by a good counterpuncher. They Barrett was no longer that guy, and they bet wrong.

That's why we're talking some SERIOUS Grade A china here. You could actually have a debate about who has the worse glass jaw, Fields or Fraudley!!

I don't get some of the fans here. While I'm not a fan of Fields in the least and think he was a big hype machine, to say his chin is garbage is ignorant.

ANY HW that lands flush punches like Barret did will hurt another HW. These are big dudes throwing serious leather.

Fields wasn't dropped by one punch, it was a series of flush power shots that dropped him. His defense was garbage and that's why he got caught. Additionally, it's not like he was stopped cold, he did beat the count and Bayless could of let the fight continue.

People don't seem to realize that a HW can end the fight at any moment with a clean shot, even guys like Barret, Chambers, etc...

Nice win for Barrett, but Fields has beaten absolutely nobody.
