The personal history of the Frampton side (Carl being no fan of Sky cos he obviously feels they didnt do right by him in the past, and we all know about Barrys problems with Barney Eastwood) played a big part in this. There is no denying though that there is going to be two "Big Events" on this summer that Carl could benefit enormously from participating in. (A Quigg fight this side of the pond and the Mayweather-Pac bill in the USA) and Carl is going to miss out on both. Thats two HUGE career-advancing opportunities gone a-begging. I'm a big fan of Carl and his team, and Im sorry to say it, but no matter what way you slice it this has to represent less-than-ideal management of his career a the moment.
I wrote on here months ago (last year) that Quigg-Frampton was a destitute mans Mayweather-Pacquaio..and that the two may never fight each other (certainly not during 2015). You have two guys, both are undefeated, fight at the same weight and claiming to be world champions, yet it is clear that one of them is not even the best in the UK!!! It is a fight that from every perspective makes all the sense in the world , yet all their camps do is come up with excuses as to why they will not fight each other!!! It is pathetic and a perfect example of everything that is wrong with boxing now!!
Both hold world title belts, in Manchester 70% of the crowd will be pro Quigg. 60/40 to the winner is a very fair offer. Frampton does bring the marketability but its Matchroom who are bringing the money and the platform for the fight. Both guys have headline multiple shows and therefore both have decent followings, yes I am aware Frampton has more of a fan base. I wouldn't class either as the champion for this fight like some are, so 60% in one fighters favour is very good money and more than either have earned before and more than they will ever earn in any other fight. Take the money while they can as either could have their career finished in their next fight, just hope it gets made.
70% of the crowd pro quigg?? Lol hardly anyone in manc knows who he is, place will be full of Irish fellas (either those living nearby and those getting the cheap easy jet) and neutrals than quigg fans
It will be full of Brits supporting other fighters on the bill. They will then naturally take sides with their fellow countryman. IN Ireland it would be 90% Frampton, however in the UK I would say 70% pro Quigg. A casual fan will straight away will support someone from the sae country, think about when you watch the Olympics in a sport you don't necessarily watch any other time? You always support your fellow countryman or women
Sorry mate can't agree with that, quigg barely has a profile outside boxing fans in the north west and frampton doesn't have a massive one it's probably bigger plus it's not that difficult to get over to manc. Plus it's an Eddie Hearn undercard and nobody will give a **** about those fights tbh
I agree in terms of the followings, but look at Hearns undercards. They aren't criticised for names, but for close fights and the more casual fan will be there and they support that kind of undercard. Casual fans will support the English fighter in this situation, in England there is no doubt there will be more English than Irish, no doubt in my mind. This whole situation has given Quigg a bigger name and has made him known more around the country, Frampton still the bigger name however. The fight is in Manchester where Quigg has a 'name' and that's what matters.
