Despite a rash of recent reports, former World Wrestling Entertainment performer "Batista" (David Bautista Jr.) has not signed with Strikeforce.

The 41-year-old aspiring MMA fighter "definitely has not signed" with the organization, Strikeforce spokesperson Mike Afromowitz today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Numerous reports of the supposed signing popped up this morning after TMZ.com issued a story quoting Bautista as having a deal.

Afromowitz declined to comment on anything beyond the denial of a signed deal. But additional sources told MMAjunkie.com officials have had informal talks with Bautista and may eventually offer a contract.

They stressed, though, that no such deal is imminent.

Bautista began on the pro-wrestling circuit in 2000 and joined the WWE in 2002. Although once one of the organization's most marketable stars, he cut ties with the WWE in May.

He could join UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and Strikeforce heavyweight Bobby Lashley as WWE vets who eventually made the move to MMA.

Although slightly smaller than his "billed" wrestling height of 6-foot-6 and weight of 290 pounds, Bautista would compete in MMA's heavyweight division. If the wrestler does sign with the California-based promotion, a bout with NFL veteran Herschel Walker, who made his MMA debut with Stikeforce early this year, could be a possibility given its marketability and both fighters' limited cage experience.

More to the point didnt know he'd left the WWE. Hard times for Vince McMahon. Maybe Dana will sign him :D

wow he's already 41:shock: im afraid it's just too late for him. I don
think he has a wrestling background like lashley and lesnar. I wouldn't recommend him fightin in MMA. Just go to TNA if WWE doesn't want you.

Agreed Batista sucks. Listening to him on the mic is enough to make you wanna comitt suicide. The guy is terrible in the ring he botches the most simple of moves, his spear looks like a giant hug, he isnt nearly as strong as a guy like Cena or Kane despite having veins bursting out his arms, says AJ Styles is a spot ****** but this guy can take a bump without tearing up his back. Agian your right no background in striking or grappling and he isnt even a real athletic guy or anything and you can tell he has a **** work ethic. The guy is just a greedy mother****er who the WWE put to the top and now he thinks he can be a movie star (sorry buddy your are no Rock or Austin). I guess he figures since hes a "superstar" Strikeforce might throw out some million dollar paydays. I almost hope they do and match him with Lashley for the hell of it and Lashley rips his head clean off.

I don't think Dana would sign him. Batista has no real experience but he sounds like a tough street dude, bouncer etc Sounds like Kimbo but Kimbo had fight experience and went through TUF.

Batista probably got excited after having advanced talks with SF.

Also please dont go to TNA he would **** that company up beyond repair. TNA has issues but talentless main events is not one of them. Somehow the name Batista alongside RVD, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles or Jeff Hardy doesnt sound right. Its like sticking Wes Sims next to Fedor and Big Nog.

Yea so i don't recommend he goes to MMA. It could be dangerous for him not having any type of martial arts background.

When he stole Ultimate Warriors "ring grab" thats when he crossed the line. He reminds me somewhat of Bill Goldberg. Goldberg had the wrestling coordination of a stone. He'd routinely injure other wrestlers with botched attempts at pretending to be a wrestler. Batista was no different except it was his own ass that he'd end up hurting too. The fact he then had to audacity to berate other wrestlers who he thought werent working as hard as him took the cake. The thing with Batista is he has no wrestling credentials let alone fighting credentials to speak of. Other than being "big" and fitting Vince's stereotype he was useless at everything.

I totally agree. Batista (like alot of other pro wrestlers) probably looks at MMA like he can automatically do it too. Alot of people have this mind set that all you have to be is strong and that's it. They have no understanding at all about this sport, and just get motivated by watching their old buddies Lesnar & Lashley, and automatically assume they can just come in and wreck shop. Lesnar & Lashley are real wrestlers. Have trained for years, and competed at the College level. A stiff as hell, unathletic, obviously roided up, **** poor pro wrestler will get destroyed. Just like you, I hope they match him with someone like Lashley, just to make an example out of him.

I'm tired of these pro wrestlers talking ****. I remember when Lesnar beat Mir at UFC 100 and Tazz was actually running his mouth about how pro wrestlers can actually fight MMA guys. A guy like Tazz (who has a backround in Judo) I'm not really gonna debate on whether or not he can hang because maybe he can, but I definetly disagreed with his statement. Now even former WWE female wrestler Victoria (at 39 yrs old with no backround in anything) has stated that she wants to fight MMA. I hope they stick her in with Cyborg:D

I'd love to see Lashley rip his head off. Batista was a **** poor performer and horse **** on the mic. Lashley was a **** in ring performer and sorry on the mic was still miles ahead of stiffy Batista. Bobby is at least a real fighter

Yeah - I was about to say the same thing. Booker T had to beat him down in the lockers once.

he's too slow IMO. and having no background on anything related to MMA is not gonna help him.
