what's peoples thoughts on these: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/british_rankings/default.stm they always have john murray elevated up for some reason - dont think he is worthy of his position here. also, i think its time hatton went down a bit. nicky cook used to be quite high up - but his ranking must have been completely based on his title. witter dropped completely out.
1-4 is spot on. 5-10 is all wrong. Brook and Murray shouldn't be in there at all, and Macklin is Irish.
A quick top 10 from moi..... 1. Froch 2. Haye 3. Khan 4. Rhodes 5. Moore 6. Macklin 7. Munroe 8. Mitchell 9. Cleverly 10. Booth Thoughts?
I love both Moore and Booth, but I wouldn't have them that high. The rest of it is pretty good :good My list: 1. David Haye 2. Carl Froch 3. Ricky Hatton 4. Amir Khan 5. Ryan Rhodes 6. Rendall Munroe 7. Matthew Macklin 8. Nathan Cleverly 9. Kevin Mitchell 10. Junior Witter ---------------------- 11. Kell Brook 12. Jamie Moore 13. Brian Magee 14. Paul McCloskey 15. Martin Lindsay
I deliberately left Hatton off, not sure whether he'll fight again, likewise with Witter - who probably wouldn't make the list in fairness. Moore is a tough one, obviously with the loss to Rhodes and a move up in weight there are question marks, but given his dominance at British/Euro level in recent years I'm reluctant to drop him too far. Plus, H2H I'd back him to beat any middleweight we have, including Macklin and Barker. I'm not sure why they rank Murray and Brook so highly, given that neither have really beaten anyone of note - or rather, they've had plenty of sloppy 2nd's (or 3rd's in some cases). :good
while irish since they are current and formerer british champs i suppose they should be in and in that case id have mccloskey about 7/8 and brian magee knockin on top 10. as for yours i reckon cleverly higher, munroe lower, khan n hatton swapped, froch haye swapped, mitchell macklin swapped
If it was purely on ability and potential then McCloskey would probably be about 6/7, I just think he needs some good Euro-level fighters on his record now :good
