He's looking to maximise his earnings. Can't blame anyone for that.

I don't think Hopkins, Froch etc are bigger earning fights than Kovalev as one poster was suggesting though. They're just easier (and very good) paydays until................

If it makes dollars itll make sense,I think Carl Froch will be out of the question for Stevenson but Bernard Hopkins may feel he has something to prove. Can you imagine Hopkins unifying the light heavyweight division at his age,it might be an achievement he want to accomplish so that fight very well may happen. We may even see Andre Ward move up to light heavy so theres plenty of other fights to talk about not just Kovalev v Stevenson.

As an addition,Stevenson is probably angling for a big payday in England that he won't get.Froch has never fought at light heavy, and probably never will.He fought Kessler instead of Stevenson, who was grossly underrated on this forum at the time.Somebody knew something, though.Stevenson and Kovalev will run out of opponents and have to fight each other unkless Ward moves up.In the meantime lets give Bellew credit for having a go in the lions den.

Kovalev's gonna be avoided. Looks like it's starting already..

And yeah, well done Tony. He gave it a go, and just getting there's a hell of an achievement. :good

You dont think Stevenson will earn as much fighting Hopkins or Froch as he would facing Kovalev who is relatively unknown outside of boxing circles?

Froch and Hopkins are household names who draw money,Kovalev is not.

Whats so hard to understand about that? Its a simple dynamic.

So's Hopkins. No way he'll want Kovalev.

Yep.You could be right about Hopkins, but just my opinion,I doubt it.Thing is though, can't see many contenders at light heavy.I think Ward is more likely than Hopkins, and if they both keep winning, which is likely, that a fight between the 2 is absolutely nailed on to happen.Kovalev appears to be willing to go anywhere,he's an away fighter everywhere, and I would have thought it'd fill a big venue in Canada, with TV massively interested.

I think all 3 fights draw money. It's just a question of getting in as many as he can before the inevitable...

Since neither Hopkins or Froch are at all likely, it's academic anyway.

I don't think Ward, Kovalev, Froch or Hopkins will be his next fight.

I see the idiots are up early this morning.
What was Bellew supposed to do, go toe to toe with a puncher ?
He went into Stevensons backyard and imo deserves credit for having a go. His tactics were pretty spot on ( move away from Stevensons left hand, and draw him onto counters) he had some success until he got caught with big shots in the sixth, thats boxing.
He won a couple of rounds, and should have had a 10-8 that was ruled a slip.
I cannot believe how much praise Stevenson is getting, apart from quick hands and power he's pretty average as far as i'm concerned. Bellew isn't a noted puncher, and he managed to get Stevensons attention everytime the right hand landed. I'm not sold on Kovalev either, but on last nights performance i'd pick Kovalev to flatten Stvenson within 3 rounds.
    Well done Tony lad.

Bellew doesn't have enough wrinkles in his game. It's all very basic.

All top boxers can counter-punch in the pocket, but Bellew just retreats. Stevenson is a bit of a freak though and Tony did the only thing he could have done.

I said I would be back on here the day after the fight and I'm a man of my word, I lost to the better man last night and maybe I'm not as good as I think I am or could be? The plan was to take him into the later rounds and capitalise on his fitness levels but he caught me and fair play to him.. He is a good champion and very hard to hit. I apologise to all my friends and family who came out as I didn't do what I thought I was going to do.. I'm sure the arse holes will have there pops but like I said I hide from no one and gave it everything..
