You're putting a lot of stock in one remark in one interview.

Seems like scant evidence to condemn a man in this fashion?

Well over the top here mate. It wouldn't have worked having 2 coaches both with completely different tactical approaches in the camp/corner. Nothing wring with Ben recognising that. Better.all round for everyone

    "Barring the wilder fight" ffs.

So barring the most important and dangerous fight by a mile. Very selective of you.

Big John Fury called this one right.
He said after the Wallin fight that Tyson was fighting at the wrong weight and that Ben Davidson wasn't the right person to take Tyson any further, said he was a nice lad and great fitness coach but not enough.
I thought at the time that big John sounded a bit bitter and too much old school but fair play he definitely knows what's best for his boy.

Looks like it was a great decision from Fury but take nothing away from Ben and the work he did. He was the perfect man at the right time and did a brilliant job and still has a big future in coaching IMO.

Davidson helped rescue Fury from himself.

Fury especially thanked him again after the fight earlier, and Davidson tweeted immediate congrats.

I think the path they have now taken is to benefit both.

Ben has to be given the greatest credit of all.

Without him would fury be here today?

I first fury fight tyson was weaker, more fragile. I think Ben got the tactics right for that one. Let face it he won the fight.

John Fury knows his boxthing and was correct in all he stated including the weight and coach.

The young lad done a cracking job with phase 1 of rebuilding The Gypsy King and he needed different expertise to perform at that level last night.

Davison was a bit in awe of Fury I think. He was a good gym buddy for getting back into shape but in these mega-fights you need more.

    Pardon

It's direct testimony from one of the two people involved, which was confirmed by Bens actions

What more evidence do you need?

I thought Davidson was a great trainer? I'm sure he would have had valuable insight to still give and even if not doesnt, he is good for Tyson's morale. So what benefit is it of him packing up and going home rather than staying with Tyson before the biggest most dangerous fight of his life ? Clearly not thinking about what's best for Tyson what so ever, only thinking about himself

The fact he knew the danger of the fight and just packed up and left Tyson to it says everything you need to know about him as a person

I could have worded it "barring the anomoly" that would have sounded better. The wilder fight was an anomoly in the training career of Davidson. Of when looking at the overall picture an anomoly is meaningless

Also if you want to include it you can also rate that as a poor performance now we have a direct comparison for it. Tyson got dropped twice and a whisker away from.being counted out for a KO

    Vs

A one sided mauling, so bad he dropped Wilder twice and made his corner throw the towel in after just 7 rounds. And that was with a trainer who had him for only 7 weeks

Let's also remember Davidson wanted Tyson even lighter for the rematch and again on the back foot trying to pot shot and avoid, that's the exact tactics that give Wilder his best chance at victory

    BUT

That isn't even the point of the thread, it's how Davidson just chose to dump Tyson at the drop of a hat instead of trying to stay and offer what help he could before the biggest most dangerous fight of his life

Twat of a thread really. (Only read the Op mind).
Ben probably saved his life and has been monumental in getting him where he is today.

Fredie roach was actually right all along from the first fight.
