I recently saw a post on the web from one of Bernardo Mercado's children (or at least claiming to be). I saw his fight with Shavers and actually felt he did a decent job of defeating Earnie. Fluid movement, some heart, will, and getting up from a very hard punch. I can't imagine him being stopped in two rounds by John Tate and it's also difficult to see him losing to the much smaller Leon Spinks in nine. I can understand the loss against Mike Weaver, as Weaver was a good underrated fighter. Does anyone have any of his fights on video they could upload either here or on y*ou-tu*be? Particularly would like to see him against Tate or Spinks. Or Weaver as well.
I am Legion said: I am in agreement. But I would love to see a vid of the fight. In the earlier post I forgot to mention Bernardo's 1st round K.O. over Trevor Berbick. Would be good to see that if possible, short as it was.

leon's win over him was his best career win post ali....leon finished him with one punch then battered him around a little forcing the ref to stop it
The only footage I can find was against Shavers. Shavers looked really gassed out, a common problem he had, otherwise I think he coulda held on for a decision. :smoke
Mercado was a solid puncher. Was never able to make it to the top tier. Was a formidable opponent though.
