On the eve of what hopefully will be a classic grudge fight betweem George Groves and James Degale, what other great British grudge fights have there been.

Without doubt one of the best was Eubanks v Benn.
But what others have their been?.

The obvious one is Eubank-Watson. That was a lot deeper and darker than Eubank-Benn.

Eubank always used to say that he didn't even dislike Benn.

Watson bitterly despised Eubank, so much deeper than Benn did. And Eubank didn't care for Watson.

Everything. It got quite disturbing the way Watson would speak about him - 'He hates being black', 'He wishes he was white', 'He's mentally ill', 'He's sick', 'I just can't wait to punch his brains in', 'When I'm done with him, I'll feed him to the public', 'We all want him lynched', 'There's something seriously wrong with Chris Eubank's brain', 'He's very weird, a very ugly man', etc.

And Eubank to Watson, 'This object, Michael Watson, the object, makes me feel physically ill', 'You make me sick - you lost the fight, right, that's the up and all of it', 'You're a boy. There's no calming down, this guy's an idiot, man. You're a complete and utter idiot. Idiot - that's what you are. I'm done with this press conference now... Barry, let me go, or I'm just going to whack his ears off', 'He's not even there - he doesn't exist', :)

That was just ****ing vile stuff.

Their rematch was bitter hatred from Watson and bitted dislike from Eubank, in that ring, Watson went for it like on hell on earth and Eubank was literally fighting for his life. It all came out. Sick.

At another presser I recall Eubank saying to Watson, 'If I was to get up and walk out of this room now, you'd be left starving.'

Madness! Why do you think Watson disliked Eubank? Because he got all the fame and the accolades and the wealth but Watson was the forgotten man so to speak?

Hatton v Magee & Artur v Gomez were decent rivalries. But the Hatton fight really dissapointed.

Probably the way Eubank talked and walked. Not sure really, but it was dark and deep.

I don;t think it was that, more that Eubank had a way of coming across like he thought he was better than his opponent and better than the sport. He just really got under Watsons skin.

So Watson vs. Eubank II is worth a gander?

I'll give that, Gomez vs. Arthur and Benn vs. Mcclellan tonight.
