Joe Louis's left jab was described as an "electric light bulb exploding in your face" by Jimmy Braddock. Klitschko's is a defensive jab designed to keep an opponent away from him. The man JUST DOESN'T LIKE TO ENGAGE...He is in the wrong sport, as his temperment is more suited to the sport of FENCING.
P.S. I will say that at age 35, he is in good shape for today's crop of heavyweights. His fight plan is thrust and parry, and because of his size and visceral distaste for shootouts
Klitschko is champion of the most mediocre crop of heavyweights since Tom Cribb...

Burt who do you think has a better jab, Ike Quartey or Jem Mace?

If Joe Louis's jab was that good he would have controlled Conn, Walcott and Schmelling with it but he didn't

I think in terms of having a jab that controls a fight, is heavy, fast and very hard to get past Wlad's is the best. Fortunate for him though he fights in an era with few who can slip a jab while moving inside.

considering his shear size and strength, he seems to have a pretty lame jab. if wlad committed to his punches more often, then he would be in the running for one of the best jabs. putting all his 6'7 height and 240 pound weight behind those would be scary.

    well put Burt.

Is the more hurtful powerful jab the only criteria here for determining the "best jab"?

What has Wlad done to prove his jab is better than Lennox's?

    Lewis clearly fought superior competition.

There have been many,Louis had a great one, Ali flicking, blinding and cutting...Holmes strong, fast and accurate, Foreman strong and solid...Carl Williams a beaut but Vlad has a fast an accurate jab and more powerful than them all, he has one of the best I have seen at heavyweight.
