Anyone name a fighter with the best lead uppercuts from now or the past, amateur or pro?

Want to study it so I can add it to my own personal arsenal.

Margarito throws a nice lead uppercut with either hand.

Lead uppercuts are dangerous punches to throw, the upjab is more effective imo, but that is usually worked off your combination, like a 1 2, then an upjab.

I think the upjab is the most underrated punch in Boxing, Andre Ward used it to great effective against Kessler, Khan used it to effect against Malignaggi, and most slick fighters are open to upjabs.

Yeah, I never used to throw a lead uppercut when I had a left lead stance, but I've started to switch southpaw quite often and seeing as my power sits more with my right I thought this would be something to practise on a bit more. I've thought about doubling it up with the jab as that some I can do well with the lead hook.

I would suggest that you should not lead with an uppercut to often, it requires very good athleticism/reflexes/timing. It's a dangerous punch to lead with that could get you into all sorts of problems. If you're gonna do it, do it with the lead hand and not the backhand.

I would say Roy Jones, but i wouldn't really advise anyone to study him for technique or how to throw proper punches. Mayweather does it really well, on the odd occasion and knows how to roll away from the counters and does it with timing.

If you're a lefty then maybe Marvin Johnson.

The key is feints and a good set up.

Ricardo Lopez. It's strange seeing such a textbook fighter throwing a punch like this but he really made it work for him.

Yeah. Marquez was the first modern fighter I thought of. It's a dangerous punch because it often leaves you open to a counter right-hook / right cross, but people tend not to lead with those so they often get caught out by it. I think it's one of the reasons Pac and Casamayor gave JMM trouble as the right lead is more naturally thrown by a southpaw.

Doesn't Darchiniyan use this a lot? I mean he destroyed Mijares with it. Also, Tarver has a very good lead uppercut.
